Technology, technology, technology. Do you not suppose that for .1 million dollars you could have hired someone to craft new springs and levers that would have kept the old analog machines running for another 50 years? And kept local people working? Sheesh.

I am one of those people. I have been paying for my own insurance, some call it Health Care, I call it insurance. I have what my parents would have called Major Medical. Now my plan is no longer offered by my insurance company. They have generously moved me to a plan which, starting Jan 1,, will increase my premiums by 54%. My co-pays and deductible go up too. Insane.

I have seen this story time and time again on the interwebs. What I believe is this: They are not installing a "Smart Meter." It will not turn off any appliances, it will not report to Big Brother. I bet she has had a wireless box on her gas line for years. I also bet she has a cell phone strapped to her ear for a couple of hour a day, the rest of the time it is in her pocket. I would suppose that is worse, health wise.
