no. i was saying that it was a mistake that the first paragraph was deleted. details were not changed, and it was corrected (i.e. posted to the site) as soon as it was noticed.
a "lede" is what journalists call the first paragraph of a story.
Gonzo.. just so you are aware, if you'd pick up the print version of the newspaper, you would see that the reporter is completely competent, and the lede of the story is there. The mistake was made in the web posting process — something the reporter has nothing to do with.
cortland residents need to read this article, and pass this levy.
as a lakeview high school alumni, it sickens me to see and hear that people do not care about the educational system in their very own community. it's absolutely ridiculous that 10 years has gone by since the last time a levy was passed in the school district.
and i am tired of hearing the excuse, "it doesn't affect me. i don't have a child in school," because it is just that — an excuse. it shouldn't matter. the amount of money it would cost taxpayers per year is barely pocket change. many people drop that amount of money going out to dinner each week. i am a recent college graduate, paying back student loans, probably making a lot less than many people who live and work in cortland, and i am still 100 percent willing to take on this extra tax.
closing cortland elementary, charging students to participate in athletics, cutting buses, are all completely unacceptable and unnecessary. families used to move to cortland because of the educational system. they would PAY to have their children go to school in the lakeview school district. now, all i see when i drive around my neighborhood are for sale signs.
i am proud of my education at lakeview, and i would hate to see the quality of education decrease for current and future students because voters just don't care.
Valley residents turn to stoves, fireplaces to warm home, save cash
