To all you supporters of Joe, he broke the law even if she consented to having sex with him. Last time I checked, the laws of the state of Ohio specifically bar this type of behavior between teacher and student. While her motive for turning Joe in years after the conduct is questionable, he still is legally liable for his actions. Plus, he definitely needed removed from the teaching profession so he would not prey on other young girls. Couldn't he find anyone his own age?

As a long time friend of Lisa's, my heart goes out to her. While l recognize that society demands punishment for those who break the law, I truly believe the sentence in this case is too severe. In my opinion, justice in this case could have been better served with probation, or home confinement. Lisa accepted responsibility early on in the investigation, waived indictment, and cooperated fully with the investigators. Hopefully, Lisa can move on from this and return to be a productive member of society. Good luck and God bless you Lisa! I and many, many others are rooting for you!

Can't believe that Micchoa did not have his legal counsel review the ballot language to make sure all was well! So we now have a voter approved amendment that is fatally flawed. Wow, this is a major setback that Warino amd Fortunato will take full advantage of. BTW, someone needs to check on how much Fortunato got paid fpr his "legal research" on the issue, because the taxpayers have been fleeced again. He claims to be an "expert" on municipal/state law, & should have caught the error!

Agree that she will never win! As a council rep, she is totally inept. I and most of the voters in the 6th ward get nothing but lip service from Janet. Besides, she wants to spend $50,000 for a private contractor to re-draw the city ward boundries, while YSU charged $8,000 to draw them 2x, but council, in their attempt to gerrymander the wards, rejected them!

A rash, really? I always thought his issue(s) centered on his huge EGO!

Belinky was unfit to be judge the day he was appointed. And he continues the family legacy of shame. What is it with Mahoning county judges?

One other thing, jailbirds, the rampant rumors about issues @ the board of elections predate chairman Betras as chair and board member. Gaines and Wellington both agreed there were issues at the board, but no charges ever filed. Wonder why?

I tend to agree with Kernal. The FBI will not proceed against Cafaro because of his deep pockets. Cafaro has the means to take the feds head on, and to financially assist his co-defendants. The FBI has a tendency to back down if they feel they don't have a 90 to 95% chance of conviction, as they don't want to tarnish their conviction rate! Also, all of the defendants (except Lisa) have stuck together and the feds have NOT been able to divide & conquer the group. Finally, the feds rarely, if ever indict candidates (ie:McNally) right before an election as not to effect the outcome of said election. This is DOJ policy.

Mayor Sammarone should recognize Mason for his efforts and come up with a grant so that he can teach other interested city residents to start their own gardens.
