The personalities at the Weather Channel have to have something to get excited about. Anyway, it didn't miss us by much; some areas nearby did get hit. It's hard to predict the exact boundaries of storms. I'm more concerned about the loss of our early summer. I got spoiled I guess.
Another excellent job of managing by Manny Acta. Go back to Washington (oh...wait...that's right, they got rid of you because you couldn't win there either)
toy: Tell that to those who ran out of benefits who are still without jobs but are no longer counted in the official stats. Things may or may not be improving slightly, so don't applaud your governor quite yet.
Gas prices were supposed to sky-rocket past $4.00 last summer and it never happened. I also remember gas being at $4.00 when Bush was in office. So neither president is to blame; they really have no control over the price except for trying to artificially lower the price. Speculators and supply/demand have driven the price higher. That's the way a free market system works in a capitalist society. It would be a disaster to markets to force prices artificially lower. We are using oil and it's products at an incredible pace, and eventually it is going to run out; thus the higher prices. Bush, Obama and whoever is next in line is powerless to stop it. They may be able to stabilize prices for a while from time to time, but high fuel prices are a speeding freight train that will inevitably keep rolling along. The Keystone pipeline and drilling in previously off-limits areas would just be a stop gap that will eventually help, but it will run out someday. That's why research for alternatives is important. Until and when alternatives are found, we are stuck with what we've got: escalating oil prices.

RISKS AND RICHES IN THE FRACKING ERA
Trading dollars for tainted air and water. Sounds good to me. How many brownfields do we have to create before we learn our lesson?

Do you know of any unusual street names in the Valley?
Berry Blossom Drive in Canfield may not be unusual, but it sounds like it should be a street name on Desperate Houswives.
