Yes, it was another small earthquake!

On S. Schenley thought a car hit a house very nearby. A real jolt.
I to went outside to see what happened. Strange.

YSU faculty vote results expected by 8 p.m.

YSU: Still one of the least expensive Universities to attend and with the lowest faculty income average in the state. do we want a big community college or a well staffed university with well educated faculty who strive to give the best to and for their students? Faculty who themselves are constantly striving to improve w/ continuing to educate themselves and conduct research etc. you get what you pay for. what a mess.

Wick Park a focus of Youngstown administration, groups

As a Westside resident I, although perhaps not totally aware of all that is being worked on/implemented here on the westside, love to see the wave of interest in improving our cities neighborhoods, which ever side of town. Any improvements are good for ALL of us who live here. As stated by many previous comments its about enforcement of codes and following through. Pressing palms and smiling for the cameras is nice but actions are what people notice. There are plenty of issues for a city to contend with in order to improve the quality of life for its residents, but the residents have to want it, believe in it and get out there and help out however they can.

YSU targets historic places

things like this make alot of us wonder who's interests are best served by tearing these structures down? I don't know much about all this but all of the previous comments are very informative. If I may through out a good example of use of historic structures, Went to grad school in Roc.NY, spent many hours in a house/school called the Visual Studies Workshop run out of a historic old home. Maybe I could start a school for visual studies/photography in the Peck house.
Could an educational facility get funding to restore a structure to house it? Just a dreamer reaching out!
Hoping these structures stay here for a long time.

downforce

A recurring issue that continually goes unaddressed. I have two children who attend McGuffey Elemetary school on Schenley Ave. The issue is dropping off and picking up children. It isn't a matter of if, its when something very bad is going to happen. At both drop off and pick up it is an accident/fight waiting to happen. Parents do not follow the signage directions and the parking lot isnt adequate to let all cars park. Many parents don't pull in at all and stop on the street and block all others coming and going. at the end of the school day it is utter meyhem as first kindergarteners are released and 15min. later all other students, which means those with kids in both grades have to wait and adds to the gridlock.
Kids are running out of the building all over the schoolyard into the parking areas, across the sidestreet. A matter of time before some child is hurt. The School periodically sends "a" teacher out to attempt to control things but it isn't working, too many kids to deal with.
Have seen a Ytown police officer rarely to help but it needs to be there daily. It is only a matter of time before someone does something to the wrong person and all hell is going to break loose. As a parent if your child was hurt leaving school due to a reckless procedure would you not go there to take issue with whom ever you thought was to blame. I know my thoughts stated here are a bit scattered but the problem is real and needs to be addressed asap.
A CONCERNED PARENT!
