"Arson suspected..." Well, it's been vacant for years and had no utilities. Perhaps mice with matches? Also, only in Youngstown would a vacant house be valued at $12,000.
$10,000 in unpaid parking tickets... in Youngstown?! Holy hell. I got a ticket for an expired meter about two years ago. It was $10. $10,000 is a lot of expired meters.
The vast majority of costs for the inauguration are covered by private donation to the Presidential Inaugural Committee and Obama for America. Federal funds are primarily limited to security. Research before you type.
This was clearly an issue of the Youngstown Club not properly marketing itself to new audiences and simply relying on their name to drive business. Times are changing; that's not enough any more. And this business failing is absolutely unrelated to anything else going on downtown, contrary to 'chuck_carney's point of view. Any business that doesn't properly market itself, regardless of what's going on around it, will ultimately fail.
The downsizing of the Church has little to do with the current economy and more to do with the economy of the 1970's and 1980's when the steel mills closed. With the population decline of the last 30 years, there weren't enough parishioners in the closed parishes to justify their existence. Additionally, there are no new priests to make up for the aging priest population. Most of the 26 closed parishes probably should have closed 15 years ago, but Malone and then Tobin weren't going to step on that landmine.

Shenango Township officer killed in traffic crash
A cop gets killed 10 miles from Youngstown and the Vindy uses the AP story instead of writing their own? No wonder nobody buys newspapers anymore.
