Mayor Charles Sammarone has fired City Prosecutor Jay Macejko

The facts are out, there is not doubt, cleaning house threw out those who thought they had clout.

Whatever you call this 'political housecleaning' , the two individuals removed from the Prosecutor's Office, earned their removal by NOT being fair. I don't think they were serving for fairness and justice.

Maybe ALL past cases they've handled, for people that were found guilty or for cases still pending, should be looked at again, with a magnifying glass.

Mayor Charles Sammarone has fired City Prosecutor Jay Macejko

Why are individuals so quick to blame the Cafaros? Is it that people are just jealous of their wealth?

Macejko to learn his fate today

Let's hope the Mayor does the proper thing and his decision is to fire them both. The city can't afford to have individuals like these two working for them. Macejko has already cost the city thousands of dollars with the Ally case. It is only a matter of time that he incurrs further liabilities and lawsuits.
Bye, bye Jay and Bret.....

What’s in store for Macejko?

Both of these individuals need to be fired. Bottom line! Let's hope the mayor does the right thing, clean house, he isn't fair and just costs the taxpayers money to defend someone that is corrupt.

Woman sentenced for theft from YSU union

Who do you turn to when the officials don't do their jobs? Who protects the citizens when judges let people like this person get away with stealing and look at it as this is NOT a crime? How about telling a lie? Saying you are sorry just doesn't cut it. Guess those people at YSU just don't give a care if someone steals that much money and they don't demand something be done?
What a pathetic outcome for justice, do people even know what justice is?

Woman sentenced for theft from YSU union

I heard this person also raises money for the Relay for Life @ YSU. Bet I wouldn't be contributing any funds with her around!

This sounds so unfair, a person steals $13,000.00 and doesn't get jail time? Wouldn't you think this should be a felony? A minor misdemeanor? WOW! You are right crlkb, she must have connections, just as everyone in that valley it seems.

The injustice of it all, this person got a slap on the hand. Maybe she can reveal who her connections are so EVERYONE can steal, lie, and get away with almost murder.

This justifys what a corrupt city/county the people of your town live in.

I have heard many facts about this person how she had the city prosecutor's wife as her attorney, how she copped her deal by saying there were others involved. What a piece of garbage.

SHAME on the courts for allowing this woman to get away with NO RECORD, no jail time, nothing!

No wonder y-town is always in the news for corrupt public officials. Guess she has connections which will eventually be found out......you always get found out and the lack of a sentence and the guilt will take their tolls on ALL of those involved with this.

EVERYONE should NOT contribute to any 'charity' / fundraiser she is connected with. DO NOT GIVE ONE CENT to anything she is involved with - bet it would go to her (let's face it, a zebra can't change the stripes).

YSU union attorney objects to comment

Let me get this straight, Bush didn't like the documents he received because they were NOT what he was looking for? What then was he looking for?

Seems to me that all the other cases relating to stealing funds reported in this paper show the thief gets jail time, loses their job AND has probation, why not in this case?

A sweetheart of a deal was cut here, WHY? what makes this case so special? Just who is connected to who? Why isn't someone investigating this deal AND REPORTING on these back door deals?

Former YSU union treasurer pleads guilty

There are too many false statements in this article. Atty. Bush does NOT have his facts straight. Guess the corrupt political Youngstown machine is at work, alive and doing well for the crooks, no care about justice and doing the right thing, follow the law?
Make up the law as it suits your agenda, that's how politics work in this town.

Former YSU union treasurer pleads guilty

I want to know WHY you admit to stealing $13,000 and you only PLEAD to taking $1,000? SOMEONE CUT A DEAL HERE.

Who is benefiting from this deal that was cut? What a shame, this is a misdemeanor, this person gets to keep their job AND continue to earn a pension?

WHO IS THIS FAIR TO? Certainly not the union, is it benefitting the university? or does Atty. Bush have something he is going to benefit from or help some corrupt politician now?

THIS IS NOT FAIR! This person admitted to theft of $13K and pleaded to $1K ? How is this justice? and will ONLY get probation? What about the rest of the missing funds? Why doesn't she have to pay them back?

Gains’ re-election is not guaranteed

whit1980 - I agree with you that I will vote for whoever the Dems don't endorse.

questions for the wannabe:

Why did you NOT prosecute a case where a woman stole money from her union, had the city prosecutor's wife as their attorney, and justice has NOT been served for the valley. Generally when there are missing funds, that person has some sort of prosecution or retribution owed to those harmed.

Can someone explain what's gone on here?

Also, whatever Mr. Gains does AFTER hours is not the public's business. He is entitled to a private life too.
