That's funny that there is no fracking going on right now. When a certain company came to my house and tried to put 6 wells next to me that landman said, and i quote, "It's safe, we have been doing it for years.". Need less to say after much debate and research we found the whole process unsafe. Franking or injection wells; in want nothing to do with either!
This is sickening. We must be the dumbest species on the planet to allow this to continue year after year after year. What the hell is wrong with these companies. There is not enough money in the world to make me do the criminal acts oil and gas have done to this country. Good thing we have the ODNR in place to give a plethora of warnings. Perhaps after the tenth warning you could maybe, um fine them?
My wife and our neighbors got the city of Warren to place a moratorium on gas well drilling 2 years ago. This is not something new. Earthquakes have been happening for years all across the country near the injection wells; Ohio is not the first. There is a history. The laws that are in place are a joke. Our officials refuse to see what has already happened in Arkansas, Texas, and Wyoming to mention a few. Jobs and money is great, but if people flee the area for fear of water contamination and earthquakes those jobs don't mean anything. It took 10 earthquakes to finally get attention and an 11th for action to happen? Sad part is the oil and gas companies own that land once its signed away, and once they do their pockets are deep; Don't see this stoppage lasting long.
I can't wait to see this area in ten years. What a beautiful landscape of pipes coming up from the ground and holes filled with dangerous chemicals. Everyone will want to move here.
Amazing. The same company that regulates and profits from the gas wells try's to tell us that everything is ok. There is so much to lose with these wells. FYI for eveyone in this area. There is a federal law that prohibits VA and HUD loans if a gas well is within 350 yard of the house you are trying to buy. Even the federal gov't knows this is wrong. Also, a recent article quoted someone saying that Ohio has some of the strictest laws in place for safety. Reality, we have the worst. A well can be placed 150 yards from your house. A law that was wrote in the 1800's in case the rig fell; it's was 150 yard high. PA's is 1000 yards, Texas 3000 yards. Oil company's want everything right on top of us, evey bit of land they van get. We can live without natural gas, can we live without water?
It is very sad to see how negative everyone is about the future of our city. Jim is not a magician, however, if you were to talk to him in person you would find out a lot more about the man and his plans for Warren. As most know the media does not give all the info of what is really being said, just the cliff notes. He really wants to change things here!! Being the mayor is only a means to an end; a better Warren. While Doug is a nice man that doesn't always translate into a good leader. I challange all who think bad of Jim to talk to him in person. I feel he may change your mind about the man an the city.
