Want to do something about it? Help to save 500 P.O. jobs by attending the 7pm meeting tonite at B.H.S. Performing Arts Centre, 7777 Glenwood Avenue in Boardman. Saving these jobs would be the equivalent of having a large company build a facility here. Losing these jobs will put 500 more people on the street in search of employment. Why should a larger city like Cleve. or Pitts. get our jobs?
This film producer must be a very selfish and insensitive individual motivated solely by opportunity for profits and without regard to the pain it will cause others. To even make a film like this is a despicable act. And I am very disappointed in the Mill Creek Park administration for lacking the fortitude to prohibit this type of offense on park property when this movie theme is totally opposed to our value system and caring for children. Park Executive Director Clarke Johnson should apologize to the community and the citizens of Norway for allowing this outrage to take place.
I could not agree more. The idea to privatize the turnpike is short-sighted, to be kind about it. In order to reap the benefits of a one-time payday, the governor avoids the responsibility of balancing the budget and sells out all the stakeholders for the next 30 years. We would give up all control over tolls, maintenance and other issues. Is this what you want for Ohio? I think not.
I haven't seen any evidence that any elected official from the Valley or any other district was ever effective enough to forge friendships in Congress strong enough and dynamic enough to open plants large enough to re-employ the many tens of thousands of workers who lost their well-paying jobs here. Oh well, at least the air is cleaner now for those who remain, and I hope everyone enjoys these video clips -- I found them amusing.
Many Traficant haters conveniently overlook his accomplishments, which include funding for two federal courthouses and the Covelli Center among other things. But the stories of crime and corruption of the numerous area individuals, while interesting, are really just anecdotal. The big story is the loss of the steel industry. See http://www4.vindy.com/content/local_r... for a brief summary. I, for one, am glad and grateful that the U.S. helped the auto industry to survive and thrive, and I would never vote for Romney who apparently would have allowed it to become extinct, an amazing viewpoint for someone from Michigan. It's just too bad that we didn't have the presidential resolve to nationalize the steel industry as well.
stan, your never-ending sarcasm is misplaced here. there is nothing "cool" about being a hoodrat. but the quick action of the three employees was cool.
strangelove, you're an idiot. i happen to know tom dailey personally and there is not a more gentle gentleman around. quit trying to malign people you don't even know. you are almost as bad as this crayton creep.
Thanks, Jane, for restoring the carousel. I think it looks much prettier now than it did before. Everyone would like to still have Idora Park the way it used to be when it was in its heyday. But it would take the wealthiest person who ever came out of Youngstown to redevelop the area and rebuild the Park. So for now, we can at least visit your carousel and be happy for the memories. Thanks for caring about this piece of history!
Don't worry, people, the super committee will fix everything when they eliminate the 1.5 trillion dollar deficit. Of course tax increases and social security changes are both off limits, so this may take a little while. Wasn't Bill Clinton lucky that he had better economic conditions and higher tax rates and was able to run a surplus? Deregulation, the housing bubble, two wars and wartime income tax decreases took care of all that. Oh, and I hear that both sides conspired to raise the federal estate tax exemption amount to $5,000.000. Couldn't have the wealthy paying so much in death taxes, you know. But we'll lower payroll taxes as though we're doing something for the little guy and weaken the social security system, that's ok.
Soup kitchen, pantry in Youngstown seek community's help
@derf: I'm sure most of these "takers" as you put it would be more than happy to work just as soon as YOU provide the opportunity.

Will Congress pass some, most or none of the president’s $450 billion jobs plan?
