I am very disappointed with the Vindicator's coverage of the outside candidates in this race. As a vital source of information for Valley residents, it behooves the Vindicator to provide residents with the fullest picture possible of the issue being reported.
Please tell us what is Ms. Lorenzi's current occupation, what she has supported and accomplished as a "community activist and government watchdog." Actions and accomplishments are far more valuable information to voters than labels, which tell us little.
Please do the same for Ms. Lotze--"political newcomer" and "lack of government experience" present an inadequate, and in Ms. Lotze's particular case, misleading picture of the candidate. In her professional career, Ms. Lotze has spent more than twenty years working with local school systems, the Mahoning County court and jail systems, and area families in her capacity as a counselor and mental health expert.
Both Ms. Lorenzi and Ms. Lotze complied with the Vindicator's information requests and provided the newspaper with the details it requested. Having that information in its possession, it is irresponsible of the Vindicator not to report what would be valuable for its voting readership to see.
The Vindicator itself recognizes and states the need for change at the county government level. Residents are currently underserved by their elected officials and deserve cohesive, effective, efficient and responsible leadership. As a leading voice in the area, I ask that in the future, the Vindicator make a conscious effort to provide a more complete picture--the information constituents need to make informed choices about the change in leadership that the area so desperately needs.
Traficanti, McNally serve Mahoning County well; they’ve earned retention
