"The Greatest Generation", our parents and grandparents were mostly educated in multi-grade classrooms and they built this country into the greatest on the planet. However, the current crop and unions are well on their way to screwing it up. I graduated from HS in 1965 and was NEVER in a class with fewer than 35 students. The big lie in recent years is that smaller classrooms are better. That has been PROVEN to be WRONG. The unions and "professional educators" who don't seem to be able the get it right have pulled a grand trick on the taxpayers. By getting the moronic state educational apparatus to mandate class sizes, it results in the requirement to hire more teachers, increase property taxes, swell the teacher unions and FOR WHAT? Test scores have NEVER been as high as they were in the 1960s and early 70s. Don't hand me the garbage that kids are doing better. The tests have been "culturally adjusted" a code phrase for DUMBED DOWN. College student can't even show on a map where New York and Chicago are located. I have no sympathy. Discipline in the classroom has been taken away. Kids have no respect for the teachers because there are essentially no consequences for bad behavior and all too many parents are as stupid as their uneducated kids. When we goofed up, it was a trip to the office and if necessary, you put your hands on the principal's desk and your butt got a couple cracks. By the way, we had NO attention deficit or Aspergers students. Kids with quirky personalities were dealt with in the classroom by the teachers. I graduated in a class of 370. Most went to college, most are still married to their first wives, and the only "special Education" kids were several who were clearly in serious need. The whole system needs KITA (kick in the ass) therapy.

What planet is this guy on? Since 2001, the marke,t for the most part has been down by a very significant amount. Take GE, for example. In 2000, the share price was $52. After 2001, it was in the $30 per share range. Last year it plunged to as low as $8. It is now hovering around $16. A shareholder of GE and many other stocks have seen their equity fall by 400%. The other shoe is yet to drop. Commercial real estate is set to take a huge plunge in forclosures next year, and the recent positive sales numbers are mostly due to the fantasy spending in the cash for clunkers program and sales of forclosed properties supported by more government money in the form of subsidies and tax credits. It's a house of cards that has not yet fallen all the way to the basement. The Obamunism policies will finish this off when the pass the national bankrupcy health care debacle.

As a retired Army Officer, I, like millions of others took the oath. "...to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign AND DOMESTIC." ObaMao's oath as President, as specified in the Constitution doesn't have the part about defending the Constitution "against all enemies, foreign and domestic." That's why the founding fathers wrote it that way and created the Second Amendment. I wonder why Obama wants to create a national domestic super police force for "national emergencies" ???????? What about the police that already exist? Who pays them to sit around waiting for the next emergency????? Sounds like the Gestapo in planning to me. You know...if you oppose the Supreme Leader's policies you get a knock at your door and off you go to the gulag. This crap is sounding more like Germany 1934 to me.

So, if you don't pledge allegiance to the USA, then what country does this kid pledge allegiance to???? How about this:
For folks who don't pledge allegiance to the USA, then take away their citizenship, they don't have to pay taxes, and ensure that they receive NO public protection, pensions, public education grants or assistance, no public healthcare. pay a toll to use the streets, and charge them for ANY use of public facilities. Since they obviously don't agree with some of these basic principles, why should they be entired to the benefits of living here?

What planet it this guy on? I've been in the stock market for 40 years. Most stocks fell 300 to 400 percent from a few years ago, and most have been down since 2000. Take General Electric for example. Share price in 2000 was about $49 per share just after a two for one split. It went down from there and languished in the mid to low $30 range until the crash last fall. It dropped as low as $8 per share. It's now hovering around $16 per share. That would be a 100% increase. WHoopee!!! The economy is recovering!! Yea right. Get the weed off this guy and the Obamunist goverment mouthpieces that are proclaiming how great things are getting. Look at just about ANY stock and you will find that the drop in value is significant and anyone how thinks that the stock market it looking good is a liar, plain and simple. The only reason 3rd quarter number were better is because of the bogus "cash for clunkers" numbers that bumped up otherwise non-existent car sales. That program is gone. Just wait for the 4th Quarter numbers after Christmas. Vast amounts of "porkulous" dollars have gone to everything BUT job creation. A classic example is the $500 million that Al Gore got for his Norwegian car company. How the hell is that creating jobs for Americans????? The rest of the phone claims of job creation are proving to be phony or grossly out to lunch. After the pot holes and sidewalks are fixed, what then? You're laid off again. The purpose was to create "permanent" jobs. This isn't it. Permanent jobs are created through tax cuts to individuals and small businesses so they can create jobs, hire people, invest in equipment, purchase supplies and materials, etc. The Obamites don't have a clue....but hey, the Democrats have never gotten it. Ever meet a poor person that created a job????

Duh? As I've said in this forum a number of times, Ohio need to get it's head out of it political backside. A state like Virginia, and others, have consolidated country government. Cities operate as individual entities, however, the remainder of the counties do not have townships. They are governed by a county executive and an elected board of supervisors representing a set number of magisterial districts. These counties have one school board. One police force. One sheriff's department, One fire department. The savings to taxpayers are tremendous. In Ohio, the corruption, little rice bowl guardians, local political welfare schemes, etc. are all in play here. Look at states that have a different system and you will find better economic development, less politicial crime and corruption, lower unemployment. This area is riddled with voters who have never seen or experience another system of local government. The percentage of residents here have lower education levels, and they and their families have probably voted for Democrats for generations. That's worked out just fine hasn't it? Nothing like the Democrat welfare government programs is there? Nothing will happen here until this neanderthal political mindset changes and there seems to be little chance of that happening. Why do folks think that the young people leave, experience the larger world, re-locate to more progressive areas, and almost NEVER move back here. Look in the mirror. That's where the problem lies.

They can cut a lot of costs. The only requirement the township has under the Ohio Constitution is to pick up the dead and bury them. Get rid of the road and utility departments, out with the police and let the State Police provide coverage, and have only volunteer firemen. Everyone who is a Boardman resident can have free funerals and burials.

Oh yea, the Supreme Leader Socialist Obama paying off the union minions in the best traditions of Marxist principles. Oh, I forgot, the salaried employees are screwed because they are obviously the "rich" and part of the class of citizens who are to be punished for not being in a "protected" class of citizenship. This administration and it's policies make me puke.

redvert, the correct term is Courts Martial. Like civilian court, all death sentences are reviewed. The military has not had an execution since 1961, I think. I recall a case in the 1980s, when a soldier killed a Warrant Officer's wife in a library on an Army base in Germany. The circumstances were brutal, but he got life instead of death. There was a lot of people pretty upset that this guy wasn't hung. By the way, the military's method of execution in the past has been hanging. If the Commanding General at Ft. Hood, as the convening authority for the Courts Martial accepts the court's verdict, which should be "guilty" and the death penalty, he can approve it or reduce it. No doubt, Hasan's attorney will file an appeal to the US Military Court of Appeals. After that, the next stop is the US Supreme Court. The case does not automatically go to the President for review or approval or disapproval. The President has constitutional power to grant clemency to anyone. Hasan is no different. It would be very stupid for Obama go get involved in this. In fact, there are provisions in the Uniform Code of Military Justice that specifically prohibits "undue Command influence". The UCMJ is approved by Congress and the Department of Justice and Supreme Court.
