PRESIDENTIAL RACE | Trump refuses to back away from false claim Obama founded IS

No doubt, the only bigger idiots than trump are those voting for him. None of the Demonstrators and a large percentage of republicans in congress will indorse or work with him. If this slob were elected president the United States would quickly be isolated from the rest of the world just like his hillbilly sheep want. Like I said, they're idiots.

There are jobs galore in Ohio

disgustedjoker....sorry to hear about your sons frustrations. There could be many reasons why he isn't accepted at this time.

Your son may have to relocate to an are that has a construction boom. Larger metropolitan areas are a better choice than an area in decline.

Contractors children who want to follow into the family business have preference because they want their children to work their way up to management, actually understand the trade and know what working in the field entails. Union members children are pretty much second in line because many families have a tradition and mentality toward the trade. I know that sounds like nepotism but the contractors, their children, union members and their children are the backbone of the industry.

I suggest he does some research as to what part of the country needs members. All local unions are part of an international Union. He can contact the international unions headquarters and ask where his best chances are. Many people start in the labor union and make connections with other trades and change to another Union later.

I'm a Union steamfitter which is a industrial pipe fitter. Refineries, power plants, factories, cross country pipelines and the such. Other trades he can look into are electrician, plumber, sprinkler fitter, elevator mechanic, plaster and painter, sheet rocker, iron worker, glazer, operating engineer, carpenter and others. All of those unions have an international office that can possibly direct him to an area where he would have the best chance of membership. Good luck.

Parents, students share what they like or don’t about city schools

They should all have Merkin names like Trig and Track and Willow and Piper and Bristol.

DBF....I believe public education should include college. The fact that in the United States public funded education ends at grade twelve is causing America to fall behind. If your child wants to go to college and feels the need to join the military just to make it feasible is sad. I wish them both and all Americans good luck and good fortune with their education and goals.

76Ytown and Kurt....both excellent posts.

Regarding kurt's post, I'm in favor of everyone getting as much education at a reasonable cost as they can get but there are other paths in life.

I have a friend in the same Union as me who's son starts at UC Santa Barbera in September. My friend estimates his education will cost between $140,000 to $200,000. His son is a great kid with a 4.00+ gpa. A year or so ago even his son ask his dad "what if I do what you do". I'm not advocating one path over another but an apprentice in my Union starts at $28 an hour with a raise every year with the current journeyman wage at $56 an hour. So the difference in the next four years of his life can be $200,000 in student loans or $250,000+ in earnings.

Now consider if he wanted to become a doctor. He's not earning any real money until he's almost thirty and he's hundreds of thousands in debt. The same person who entered an apprenticeship at eighteen could have earned 1.3 million by the time they're thirty. Plus full retirement age in my Union is 55 years old with a full pension, health benefits and other benefits for life. If someone in my Union that started at eighteen and a doctor both retired at 55 and both lived to be eighty the kid from my Union would probably out earn the doctor when you consider the student loans plus interest. Just say'n.

Ha! It's so funny, when there's any good news most of the posters on this board have nothing to say. If it isn't something they either hate or fear they can't relate.
