OVI checkpoint tonight on South Avenue in Boardman

They can't properly staff a jail, patrol the bad neighborhoods or respond to 911 calls in a timely manner, BUT they find the money and probably 20 cops to set up their checkpoint charlies just about any weekend in the summer or around Holidays. THIS is gov't run amok and trampling your rights. Where are the right wingnuts protesting these illegal stops/searches. Imagine what the Founding Fathers would think of Gov't police stopping law abiding people on horseback or in a buggy just because they can. It's a slippery slope alright. What's next? Home searches on a whim? Stand up for your rights. All of the phony MADD people need not respond. Ben Franklin.

‘He was a good boy’

Islandmike speaks the truth. Everyone wants the cops, fireman and EMT to show up in 2 minutes and yet not pay for it. 20 year olds on probation for their prior offenses and uselessness end up with the "standard issue" assault rifle and kill kids and people over high school level stuff. Real tough until they've thrown away their own life and face the consequences of their thug lifestyle. Just when you'd think this has to be the moment of truth for a community, it fades for a day or two, only to raise it's ugly head the next week with more of the same. Sad.

Police seek clues in killing on North Side

CharlieBrown said it correctly. Not only is -0- ambition an issue, but that, combined with -0- expectations of yourself or anyone else in your life, leads to lives like his and ends being shot dead on a busy road on the Northside. It's not a quiet area. It's just as bad as the Hilton/Auburndale/Florida Ave shooting gallery. Watch out Westsiders. That's about the only semi safe area left in Ytown.

Mother: Son’s punishment at school was inappropriate

A perfect example of the new "blameless & shameless" generation. They can do no wrong as well their children. They've become smartphone robots who would rather stare at their stupid phone than properly raise their child. We're left with their kids who expect the world and expect nothing of themselves. Good luck America. The next couple generations aren't going to go down as one the greatest anytime soon.

Diocese stands by priest in rape case

As Issac Asimov said: "religion had it's place in human infancy". The curtain can now be lifted to show the Catholic Church has -0- zero, nada credibility. These hypocrites are obsessed with abortion and condoms while they xfer these monsters (Knowingly) to other Diocese to ruin lives all over this Country. Religion in general is the root of most evil, divisiveness and war on this Earth. Whether it's the hypocritical enabler of Pedophiles AKA the Catholic hierarchy or the Jews and the Islamic world who raise their kids to hate and kill non believers. It all has one common theme: religion based hate.

Diocese of Youngstown says priest wasn't wrong for not divulging sex-abuse allegations

Gotta love those Catholics. Raise all H*LL about condoms and the huge burden it would impose upon this group of hypocrites and then provide sanctuary for the monsters. They then transfer these monsters all over the country to destroy more lives. The Catholic Church has lost all credibility. This isn't a knock on the parishioners who are mostly law abiding and adhering to the Catholic faith. It's the patriarchal leadership who consider women second class citizens and spend their time battling abortions and condoms. Isn't it ironic and sad.

Is GOP trying to sabotage economy to hurt Obama?

Of course the GOP would sabotage, derail, decry, disassociate, deny ANYTHING to hurt Obama. At Any Cost, including the standard of living for MOST Americans. Their self professed goal, announced minutes after his inauguration, is to ensure president Obama is a 1 termer. Great way to solve serious problems. It's time to call them out as what the entire GOP has become: Anti American. They use their racist dog whistles to get the crazies going. And lately it's not just the fringe right wing responding to their pernicious whistles. Anyone who votes for Romney or supports what they have planned, needs some counseling to snap them out of this vortex of hate, division, the rich know best mentality. It's YOUR way of life that will be impacted the most if the GOP gets it's way. TAXES on millionaires (annual income $1mm) HAS to increase. Bush started (2) wars, provided seniors with free prescriptions and CUT taxes for the rich. Since when has this Country fought a war and lowered taxes on the wealthy and asked NOTHING of them. No sacrifice. It's someone else's kid fighting and dying over there. Absurd and shameful. The GOP has become unrecognizable. Lockstep thought. Compromise is a sin. Kill the middle class and protect the Corp's and the Wealthy. Vote Democrat. Save your way of life and the belief in things like science and rational debate.

Boardman police watching for violence at mall carnival

Past behavior is indicative of future behavior. Ytown thugs will arrive via Market St, Southern Blvd, South Ave or West Blvd. Also known as the Shoplifting/Burglary/Robbery Expressways. They'll cause the usual problems that drain the resources of Boardman and ruin everything they touch or interact with.

msfreeh: it's 2012. Your Tim McVeigh conspiracy is right up there with the fake moon landings. Wake Up Fool or the aliens will abduct you again to conduct experiments to understand how a human being can be so DUMB. Maybe they'll keep you and take you back to the Alpha Centauri exhibit of stupid life forms from Earth.

Four injured in N. Side shooting after fight over stereo equipment

I find it amazing Lifes2Shorts comment is still posted. The Vindy censors usually delete anything that might tell the truth with a little "urban" twist. You're right on. No snitchin' is allowed. This will soon come back around to haunt them when it's them shot or dead or a family member. Same old Ytown gangsta lifestyle. Partying at Grandpa's house on Sampson (houses once worth a bundle) and then a stupid argument over stereo equipment (Most likely stolen) during the afternoon becomes the 1am gunfight. 3 entire generations of uselessness.

Lariccias honored for aid to Animal Charity

You can't buy class and the Lariccia's are a testament to a couple who not only have class but big hearts. They've sprinkled their wealth throughout the area and always seem to save the day for various causes whether it's for people or animals. Hooray for people like them. I think a reward for uncovering the local dog fighting rings would be a good idea too. Those dogs found in the abandoned home, which they turned into a fight to death the dog killing place, need to be rescued and the scum participating, prosecuted to the fullest extent.
