YSU student's model ranks vacant homes for demolition

Keep in mind the prosperity of our neighborhoods. Long-term, strategic, well-placed demoing will pull in new middle income families that will add to the quality of life in the city's neighborhoods. Sorry Miss Tarpley, but enabling & feeling sorry for welfare mothers & juvenile delinquents just doesn't build a bright, prosperous future for Y-town.

Also, keep the shrinking city model in mind when demoing homes. The quicker you close off the many useless, barren side streets that plague the city, the more $$ taxpayers save in city services and utilities.

Youngstown school system’s problems continue

Youngstown with its life-sucking 2.75% city tax is a start and hopefully the public outcry over these Cadillac plans will lead to a re-emergence of some form of the SB5 bill. With America on the verge of the fiscal cliff, ALL levels of govt. health care plans need revamped and be brought in line to the private sector standards.

8% unemployment and trillion $$ deficits are the new normal for at least the next 4 years, and public unions cannot by way of contracts be immune to the hardships that We The Taxpayers will endure.

Teen shot during youth basketball program tonight

Remember Clinton's solution to deterring crime was invest our tax $$ into Midnight Basketball?

I'll bet most of these hoodlums can pass as Obama's sons.

Clinton, Biden rally Democrats at the Covelli

Its ironic that the Obama/Biden/Clinton rally was held at the Covelli Center. The wretched financial state of the Center matches the bankrupt philosophy of the Democrat party.

A big government run enterprise, pork barrel spending and deep deficits is written all over this noose-of-a-center hanging around Youngstown taxpayers' neck. The Democrat platform of taxing a city's, state's and an entire nation's way back into prosperity is on display at 229 E. Front St. The black hole that has been created is the crown jewel of the Democrat party that has been in charge of the Mahoning Valley for the past 40 years.

In contrast, lifelong Democrat Mayor Sammarone needs to be honored and supported for his independent stance in bucking against his liberal peers in his proposition of selling the Center and cutting the losses of and running, especially with no hope in sight of the Center ever being financially self-sustaining. This failed experiment proves once again that free enterprise in the private sector is KING, and in 7 days on a national & state level we have a choice between 4 more years of destitute Covelli Center results out of Washington DC or redirecting our $$ away from the public feeding troughs and back into the pocketbooks of job-creating businesses and middle-class households.

Future of the Covelli Centre will not have city’s safety net

Our national election debate between the two parties is a microcosm of the debate at hand locally with the keep-it-or-sell-it question of the Covelli Center.

A big government run enterprise, pork barrel spending and deep deficits is written all over this noose-of-a-center hanging around Youngstown taxpayers' neck. The Democrat platform of taxing a city's, state's and an entire nation's way back into prosperity is on display at 229 E. Front St. What may look to be a beautiful facility on the outside, the sounds of Marilyn Manson and Motley Crue streaming from the inside can't distract the voters from the bottomless pit that eats away at the city's operating budget year after year. The black hole that has been created is the crown jewel of the Democrat party that has been in charge of the Mahoning Valley for the past 40 years.

Mayor Sammarone needs to be honored and supported for his independent stance in bucking against his liberal peers in his proposition of cutting the losses and running, especially with no hope of the Center ever being self-sustaining in sight. This failed experiment proves once again that free enterprise in the private sector is KING, and on a national & state of OH level in 7 days we have a choice between 4 more years of barren Covelli Center results in Washington DC or redirecting our $$ away from the public feeding troughs and back into the pocketbooks of job-creating businesses and middle-class households.

Who’ll win tonight's presidential debate? You be the judge

Romney/Ryan/Kacish/Mandel/Johnson will turnaround 40 years of Democrat debauchery that our valley has tragically experienced. I propose a celebration parade complete with floats, banners and confetti through downtown Youngstown the day we see the great deceivers Obama/Reid/Ryan/Brown/Hagan/Schiavone get kicked on their arshes far away from holding any political office.

Valley Dems eager, ready to rebut GOP at convention

The platform of the 2012 Democrats:
*higher taxes for America's job creators
*grow govt. jobs for the middle class
*strengthen unions to stifle business growth
*full rights to abortion up to 9 months
*promote gay marriage that will lead to group marriage and marriage to anything that moves

The GOP 2012 platform:
*Tax breaks for all businesses across the board
*Cut unecessary govt. programs across the board and balance the national budget and reduce the debt, therefore strengthening the dollar
*Build up the middle income (not "class") by freeing up new $$ into the economy.
*Protect traditional marriage
*Protect the unborn in the wombs

The contrast couldn't be more clear if it didn't smack you in the face!

Hathorn: Success will continue to drive Youngstown district

To the NEA:
“Seniority — those days are gone here in Youngstown,”

To the tax-and-spend Ohio Dumbocrats:
"By eliminating positions and consolidating programs, Hathorn said he saved the district $5.2 million."

With this sound fiscal approach as a PERMANENT policy, Dr. Hathorn just may single handedly get this levy passed.

Hagan wants to see more of Romney’s tax returns

I truly admire any taxpayer, whether they are low or high income, to legally take advantage of all the tax breaks, deductions and loopholes available to minimize their IRS tax bill. That in turn leaves more $$ to invest into their families, the economy at all levels, and their charities.

Blowhards like Hagin, Brown and Reid will soon be silenced after 11/06........
