Hail Mary by Randall gives Girard win

What a great game for Girard to win, considering the foul discrepency in the first half and some very poor officiating throughout. Girard players never gave up and Randall was phenominal. Dylan O'Hara was the one who gave them the initial spark hitting 3 pointers to open things up for Randall. This game was an instant classic to see on ESPN.

Unbeaten Ursuline cages Cougars

I listened to the pre-game interview on the radio and the Ursuline coach sounded arrogant and full of himself. He made himself the "Team Captain", who does that as a coach? Also he referenced that Cleveland East Tech wasn't a real football game for them, again who does that? Always give respect to who you play, even if they are not the same caliber as your division 1 Ursuline, playing in the division 5 playoffs. I applaud all kids who play high school football and compete at the highest level. Your coach needs to show some class.

Crestview gets stung by Kirtland

Yeah Rockyroad stupid post. Not sure where your from, but from your comment about Ursuline, you must have went there. I have kind of stuck up for Ursuline and their 3 consecutive state championships in Division V, because high school kids are still just high school kids, but Ursuline does recruit and has some of the best Division I talent in the state of Ohio, playing in the next to the smallest division in the state (something to be really proud of). Crestview had a great season this year and there is no shame in losing to Kirtland, which may have won previous state titles if it weren't for having to play Ursuline as well. Your post reafirms my dislike for social media and anyones ability to post whats on their mind.

McDonald is definately a young team with lots of talent. It looked like the players were out of position (bad angles) to make tackles and that is what led to the big plays and all the passing yards against McDonald. Fix a few mistakes and you will be back to your winning ways.

VIDEO || Mooney scores early, often, in first-round victory

Apparently you have anger issues with this whole thing devildog and it is about the kids not you or me. Maybe the parents feel their children get a better education from going to a parochial school instead of a public school. I went to a public school and it doesn't nearly prepare you for going to college, and these excellent rating signs for all the schools that you see on the billboards has to be a joke, or the standards for excellence are not very high for the state of Ohio, and the Youngstown area. No not all college athletes come from parochial schools but a lot do, because in most cases they can meet the academic guidelines to be eligible to play imediately, and they are more discilpined because of their high school education and curriculum. If it is such a big issue for you call the OHSAA instead of demeaning the high school football players of this area, and the great traditions of football that is played here.

The catholic schools don't cheat, they recruit players and the OHSAA lets them do it. Can't blame Mooney and Ursuline and the other schools in this area for that. Lots of the local schools have open enrollment and have benefited from that as well. If a great player wants the exposure and an opportunity to play major college football they have to play against the kind of competition that will get them there, which means they go to Mooney or Ursuline. You also have to keep in mind that these are high school kids and they shouldn't be ashamed of playing with pride for their high school, no matter who they play in the playoffs or what division they are in. They are still 16, 17 and 18 year old kids and I remember quite a few years that Mooney and Ursuline didn't win their respective division state championships. I could see all this complaining if they won it every year but they don't, and actually hardly ever, so everyone quit whinning.

Coach Q&A: Western Reserve's Andy Hake

I went to the McDonald-Western Reserve game and Western Reserve did not out play McDonald. In fact McDonald got the first short field because of a bone head call trying to go for it on forth down around midfield and the pass got picked off. That set the tone for the rest of the game. If McDonald would have kept running to the right like they did in the first quarter it would have been a complete blow out. Western Reserves defense was weak on the right side. McDonald went back to the right when the score was 10 - 9, and the only other points scored were from a safety. McDonald's defense gave up only 2 big plays to Western Reserve the whole night, both on long pass plays, and after that they double teamed their one receiver. Western Reserve is a good team, and good luck with Norwalk St. Paul tonight. They are physical and are fundamentally sound team that should be playing division four or five or in a Catholic Play-Off with the rest of the teams.
