Immigrants fuel economy

Great article By Alan Jenkins an Juhu Thukral.

Some people who may read this article and have read about the issue will agree with it.

On the other hand, there are those who would foam at the mouth and say: Not so! illegals.. illegals.. what part of that don't you understand? Criminal aliens are lazy and steal our jobs! etc..

By the way, no human being is illegal! Furthermore, people of faith who use the term illegal alien openly should be excommunicated by their church. It's sort of like using the "N" word in bible study.

Let me share this quote:

" I believe that it is a mistake to act like Barack Obama, and to think
it is possible to win the hearts and minds of racists. Their distortion
of language has a purpose: it creates doubt and it confuses the response
to injustice. It whittles away at our liberties. Remember the Greeks
knew since the 3d century BC that the earth revolved around the sun, but
the inquisitors were successful in maintaining in saying no for over
1700 years. Inevitably, if not challenged, the irrational becomes a
doctrine. " Rodolfo F Acuña

Do our lives reflect our traditional beliefs on immigration issues?

It's silly.. On the otherhand, very true. In 1806 our extended family members founded towns here in mahoning county. At the time, I'm sure that jeratboy's family, as well as Sknirak's and usa1 families were not even here. If their families were here at that time my family treated them like crap! I hope they did!! haha.
Now, you have a chip on your shoulders and feel the need to do it all over again. So Silly!

U.S. needs immigrant labor

USA1, First, you make it sound like the only diaspora to the US comes from Mexico. Second, you choose Mexico's immigration laws to discuss bigotry.

Now, on to your second point. "The majority didn't think it was ok saying -- sorry we serve no blacks-- Ok, so why did it take since the 1860's to the 1960's to change that? one hundred years past while the majority rejected the humiliation blacks endured and they let it happen anyway.

Your 3rd point: Yeah, I need to read more history.

U.S. needs immigrant labor

Case in point..

Fear:
" there are more mexicans in Chicago than in Tijuana" --Tijuana has a population of about five million. Chicago's entire "hispanic" population is about 800,000.--

Mith: Undocumented immigrants don't want to become US citizens.

Fact: They DO want to become citizens so they dont have to live in fear of deportation.

Mith: Undomumented immigrants are lazy and pay no taxes.

Fact: They pay property taxes when rent is paid. When they buy milk, bread, gasoline, etc. they pay taxes.

There needs to be immigration reform with a path to "earned" --pay a fine, lean english, stay out of touble-- citizenship.

The Jim Crow law in Arizona makes all latinos --30% of its population-- a suspect of being in the country without "legal documents" Asking latino war veterans and current service men and women for their documentation is not going to be pretty when the Arizona law takes effect next month.

Not too long ago, the majority felt ok saying: "Sorry, We Serve no Blacks" Next month in Arizona the majority feels ok saying: "Papers please"

I rather have an immigrant living next to me than a bigot.
By the way, the term "illegal alien" is a code term used by bigots because it helps them in dehumanizing a person. Bigots are clever people who use fear and hate words to control public opinion.
Some bigots hide their hate by calling themselves conservative Christians or patriots, they may even wrap themselves in the flag.
Bigots are bullies who feel superior to Jews, Blacks, Irish, Italians, Immigrants, Gays, Russians, Arabas, etc..In a nutshell, bigots hate themselves.
Reasonable people should not hate bigots because they too were created in the image of God.

Arizona’s law backers should pause

The Arizona law is not about the 430k settlers in that State. It's about what to do with the other 2 million plus latinos who have lived there since Arizona was part of Mexico.

This law is design to put bown skin people in their place, to humiliate them.
It's not going to work.

Ask the Arizonan-Mexican who is in US uniform in Irak or Afganistan about the Jim Crow era laws in his State.
As for undocumented immigrats, how can they be lazy leaches and taking "jobs" at the same time? make up your mind.

For the haters out there, quit spreading lies... We know you can wrap your self in the flag and at times quote the bible. Spare civil discussion from your dramatic show.

By the way, why would people want to leave their family and friends to come to the south side of Youngstown? Handles Ice cream!

Immigration is slowing, but more must be done

cambridge...Very well, let's look at the 40,000 (most of them) undocumented farm workers from Immokalee for the sake of argument.
You mention the "cost of hospitals, schools, police protection and on and on while doing nothing to contribute to paying for them"
They may pay more in taxes than you think.
The IRS issues them an ITN number to pay federal taxes, at the sametime, social security taxes and state taxes are withheld from their paychecks.
The undocumented pay city taxes too by the rent they pay to their landlords.
Food taxes, clothing sales tax, beer taxes, gas taxes, cigarette taxes. Etc..
Schools and police protection is paid by the undocumented thru taxation.

Undocumented immigrants pay from their small wages for doctors visits..Yes. many of them do not have health insurance. The multinational farm corporations do not care to give them medical care.

One last point, our country needs hard working people who are willing to pay the price for a better future. Join me in welcoming the undocumented.

Immigration is slowing, but more must be done

Entering the U.S without proper documentation is a CIVIL VIOLATION. (look it up) I must confess, I too have commited illegal acts at times by speeding 2 or 3 miles over speed limits. Yes, I have done that in clear violation of CIVIL LAWS. Have you ever done that? If so, does that make you an illegal? You see, some people, even good reasonable people use that CODE word that dehumanizes a person. Others, know full well that the word "illegal" creates FEAR. Read it again..."illegal"..what comes to mind?

Now, going back as to why people migrate.

Does anyone suppose that a men or a woman prefers to uproot, leaving behind family and friends without immigration papers to face the posibilty of a horrible death at the border, just because it's a cool thing to do?

As many as 40,000 undocumented people work in salve work conditions in Immokalee, Fla. The Feds know that.
Why do you think food is so cheap?

My food bill is about 15% of my weekly income. Thank God I could afford to pay up to up to 500 dollars a week on food.. If only my fat lazy kids can agree to get a gob in Immokalee for 8 bucks an hour.
Now, that's a fat chance.
What we need is immigration reform that rewards hard working immigrats. Make them pay a fine for their sins and allow them a path to citizenship. It is a moral issue...An American thing to do.

clarkkent, I respect you views .. However, you're wrong! Telling lies about peole is not nice.
Your use of loaded words in your first entry makes me want to look if you do that all the time.
