NY Neighborhood in shock after Lake Milton crash that killed kids

I was wondering if their were any fundraising efforts for this poor family, a fund established and contributed to by their very generous "family", here in the Mahoning Valley. I am ready to contribute if some organization or bank will start the fund.

PROBE CONTINUES INTO CRASH

No people do not learn. That is why there are still drunk driving accidents, shootings for "dissing", drug overdoses, etc., etc.
Even I, a " respectable" boardmanres, had a child that would do the same thing, stay out all weekend with no idea what that was doing or where that child was. This was way before cell phones, but you just trust that what they say is the truth.
Even I, a child of the 60's , would never be totally truthful with my parents, that seems to just be the nature of youth. That is the why no one ever learns from these stories, because the lessons are never applied and absorbed. RIP my young victims, may others actually learn, from your tragic example.

Boardman official: All trees must be replaced behind Sam's

I am glad to hear this, and I think Anna is doing a great job, not only with this situation but the other issues that continue to arise.

City plans to speed up demolition process

Glad to see the demo work BUT .....
800 houses times $1050 is over 800,000 DOLLARS!!!!!
I want to see the kind of work that takes place for that kind of money per house. I really feel this is a rip off

"... to handle asbestos testing and construction inspection and serve as the city’s administrator of residential demolitions."

Please explain exactly what each of these items is, asbestos testing is not abatement and construction inspection?, for what reason, the buildings are going to be demolished. And finally administration of the demolition.... I thought we just paid a couple thousand for some software to actually create "the list" which never existed...
My blood is boiling. I have heard that it takes 5000 to take down a house, maybe less, imagine how many could be taken down for 800,000. A great start.

I just Googled CT Consultants and find that they have a number of locations, not just Youngstown. Reference USA does list a local office but the website indicates HQ is in Mentor. .

Just asking for some justification on this expenditure which I feel is out of line,

Life on chain is no life at all for dogs, group says

ytown native.. do you not feel compassion or pity for the dog that sits chained in its house with no interaction but occaisonal(sic) feeding and watering... Like a neglected spouse, " I got married and now I have a wife/husband" tie them to the house and give them water and food, but no love

Dogs chained outside condemned to miserable, lonely lives

I hate to see a dog tied and neglected. Why bother having one if that is how you treat it, kudos to this group for bringing the plight of these "pets" to our attention

Will new owner of Y&S rail be ‘good neighbor’ for Boardman?

the Boardman Trustee meeting on
Tuesday May 15, 2012. At that meeting, the trustees advised us that the rail
line that runs along Southern Boulevard had been purchased by a Canadian company
to service the shale industry. They also told us that the new company was
requesting permits to:
1. Add 1000 cars
2. Increase the speed from 10mph to 25mph
3. Carry hazardous waste

I've requested additional information from the trustees, including a copy of the
permit application(s) if possible, and also who is responsible for
approving/denying these applications. We need to mobilize to stop this from
happening. I can't see any good coming from hazardous waste being transported
next to our homes, our hospitals, our schools and our businesses.

I'll post more as information becomes available. In the meantime, PLEASE don't
wait - take action. Call your lawmakers and encourage your friends and
neighbors to do the same:

Youngstown mail processing and distribution facility to close in February

What a shame, that an area such as ours is not "profitable" enough to keep this facility open. Not to mention the 500 laid off workers. Well maybe they can start training for drilling jobs. Can't wait to see the decline in service, the lost mail, the checks and other important information that does not arrive on time because it has to make a side trip to Pittsburgh on the way across town.
