This move is pathetic. Truly pathetic. Kurt Hess is a class act and a tremendous player. He is the only reason Wolford has the wins that he does during his tenure thus far. What a shame. Apparently, Wolford only cares about the kids when they win, so he could gloat to the media about what a tremendous coach he is. He is a pompous a**. The fact that he handled this in this manner is unbelievable. This man has no loyalty... He should bench himself. Penguin fans, we are far from getting back to the glory days with this guy. I am not usually one to call for someone's job, especially in the coaching business. I know fans are fickle and usually unrealistic, but even if this guy was winning, he is truly unlikable. This move will rattle the infrastructure of the athletic program. Classless move. Hess has done plenty to win. Can't say the same for Wolford...
Why FIckell? OSU's defense stinks. Jim Heacock was responsible for the success on defense, not Fickell. That has become very obvious. Mark Mangino would be awesome. He took a basketball school's football team and won an Orange Bowl... I think Mangino is more realistic than Mike Stoops because he is unemployed at the time. Mike is the DC in Oklahoma, I'm not sure YSU would be that appealing. But, who knows. Hopefully, we can get a coach that will right the ship. Eric Wolford is not that guy. As i said before...over paid and under qualified.
Very disappointing. Perhaps the most disappointing part is how Wolford plays the blame game and points the finger at his players. He's arrogant and under accomplished. Just maybe, it is Wolford and his cronies. What's next Coach, fire the new DC? Or maybe you should fire the special teams coordinator, since the defense defends from the 50 after every kick-off. This guy is no head coach, he's a decent recruiter at best. He has ZERO class. Wolford is nothing more than a rah-rah coach that spends his time acting like a maniac and waiving his arms up and down on the sidelines. The Heacock era was miserable, but at least his antics weren't flamboyant and obnoxious throughout his career. It has become obvious Wolford has lost control of the ship, and I would be willing to bet there is a lack of respect for him amongs his players. It would make sense, how can you respect someone who doesn't own up to his own shortcomings, but constantly points to yours? Eric Wolford is under qualified and over paid.
