Boardman police probe drive-by shooting

Welcome to South Youngstown. The small townships in southern Mahoning county weren't the only ones screwed when WRTA passed that levy.
Bring the bus to South Youngstown, steal a car to get back to the homeland. Or use the car for a drive-by.

Mail center hopes public can deliver it from closure

Once again, as with the Kasich administration, who and how many of upper management have been slated to lose their jobs or have taken a pay cut to help out this situation? I'll go out on a limb here and say, as with the Kasich administration, NONE!!!

Fitch halts years of Spartan torment

Hey Vindy when you send a reporter to cover a game how about he gets to know who the coaches are. Coach Moschella wasn't at the game last night he was home sick with pneumonia.
Possibly one of the reasons Fitch was able to beat the Spartans...that and the fact they only have 2 juniors and 1 senior on the team.

Pay raise, bonus, profit-sharing fill tentative GM pact

Well thank God the private sector is getting raises and bonuses, that means the public sector employees won't have to listen to all that bull$hit anymore.
Since the government still owns part of GM and all.

Turn down additional duties, YSU faculty told

What have the trustees and university president given back to assist in this financial crisis? Are they paying more for health care also? If you want the professors et al to help financially then step up and be a leader and take cuts for yourself

Voters in Boardman approve police levy

Dear Mr Farris,
Having only 25% of the electorate come out to vote with 46% of them voting NO does not make this a MANDATE.
Mr Loree,
This township has NEVER gone 10 years without asking for money from the electorate. Please understand our history so we don't repeat it again, not just dog parks.
I don't believe this POLICE levy would have gone as well had the work been done on after hours personal time by more police employees than fire employees.

‘Bored’ man accused of setting fires

Boy I can't wait to see what awesome comments all of the Boardman public servant haters have to say about police and fire being overpaid. How they don't do anything but sit around or how it was only trash fires or how they should take more pay cuts.
Come on haters, don't fail me now.
Oh and if you don't want the protection, please don't call for help, figure out how to protect yourself or rescue your lazy a$$ from a burning building.

Fire talk upstages cop levy ballot OK

To apollo, et al...I don't see any of the trustees (part-time employees) saying they will give back their pay or not take their medical benefits to save the township money. Isn't the mark of a good leader to lead by example? Have we heard of the Fiscal Officer taking a pay cut or giving back his benefits?
What austarity measures have the township officials taken, other than cutting personnel, to assist in increasing available funds?
The administrator/trustees are preported to have had talks with local ambulance companies in which they are willing to PAY said companies to respond within the township...more money they want to spend and get nothing in return. If they want to spend money for EMS, why not invest it in an ambulance and equipment for the FD and then reap the benefits of income from charges to those who USE the service?
Whether or not your fire department runs EMS is not relevant, you still need to have personnel on duty to respond to FIRES and be safe doing it...look at Warren and officer Hipple-no firefighters in a timely manner and the man has to do their job without adequate equipment or assistance and he almost dies; which by the way he was saved by firefighters.
Look apollo, et al, I don't like paying more in taxes either, but you voted so the libraries could stay open and to give CSB tax money, etc. this levy will provide for people who may actually save your life, tell me how a library being open on a friday does that? Check your tax duplicate, what percent of that money goes to Boardman Township vs every other category?
Also since you seem to enjoy beating the snot out of firefighters, when you are comparing salaries of township employees, remember firefighters work a 56 hour work week and their salary is based on those 56 hours, not 40 hours. Do the math, what is their hourly rate vs cops, etc?

Gas leak forces evacuation in Boardman

Does it matter to anyone that all of the fire department equipment was at this emergency and they couldn't respond to any other calls? What happens when another emergency call comes in? I guess it doesn't really matter unless it is YOUR house or family member, but that could never happen to YOU.
Forget I even brought it up.

No talk of police levy in Boardman

During his regular report, Road Superintendent Larry Wilson said the township’s salt usage was higher than last year.
The township budgeted for 3,500 tons of salt, and so far has ordered 3,330 tons. Of the 3,300 tons ordered, 1,500 tons remain, Wilson said

Maybe this is the math the township has been using and is the reason they are in the financial problems they are in.

Why after 5 years is the township just now using the money FEMA reimbursed them for Hurricane Katrina? Where else is Bill Leight hiding money and how much more is there in his desk drawer?
