We are not reinventing the wheel. We need to make the changes that can help the city be more accountable and responsive to the tax payer. No reason why council would not want to do that right? Well we shall see........
Please! They can't stand success! After Gerberry and probably a much lesser role hagan got the tax status changed for covelli and are going to get the track in austintown approved they pull this garbage. Do they want to cut jobs of hard working people or are they trying to pull some other stunt? Really what they should do is work on school funding. Mabe the govenor should remove one of their seats . Do we really need that many reps and senators anyway? We should look at those avenues! Stop with the bullsh-- and do your jobs....just sayen...
While the city police investigated this crime and started the process the county moved it forward. Paul Gains found there to be enough evidence to put Houser on trial for his life. Hard to believe after two years he says "our bad" and let's just forget the whole thing. If this man is innocent of this crime than what had Gains convinced he did it. Was he looking to make a high profile arrest? Remember years ago Paul accused an innocent man of trying to kill him. Then he blamed him for the fire at the courthouse. I am seeing a pattern here. This case should be used in a text book somewhere as to how not to conduct a murder investigation.
So this group was put togeather to review the charter. After numerous meetings and their time and effort the "highly educated" and self serving council members rejected or questioned any suggestion that they loose a little pay or power? Who would have thunk it? When we we realize that it is not about what may move thecity forward it is about moving certin people forward. Kinda remember when youngstown went to a full time council it was the first in the state to do so. Well since that time we have showed columbus,cincinatti,cleveland and toledo what a little extra in council's pocket can do for an area right? Until we wake up and elect public servants we will be stuck with what we get....just sayen......
Don't know what it will look like in a year but the amount of money being spent on mlk {former westlake} is incrediable. They had a hell of a time tearing down the old buildings because of the way they were built. I am sure the replacement housing that is going up won't stand the test of time. Are we providing simple housing for people that need a home till they get on their feet or are we trying to bring a litle poland and canfield flavor to the north side of youngstown. Working everyday and trying to pay taxes and help where and when I can is all I can do. But to see federal dollars spent on projects like this make me wonder why. Plenty of houses could have been renavated for 22 million dollars. Neighborhoods could have been saved . By building one development you have made one corner of the city bright while ignoring all the other blight.
This is why you were sent to Columbus. This is an example of "fighting for the good people" of the valley. Too many times elected officials use their positions to draw attention to themselves for their gain. When you run to join every protest from fracking to the govenor with a picket sign you are not fighting for us. You look ridiculous. Again hats off to gerberry and schiavoni . Good job and now let's have more of it.
Come on. These problem kids are killing each other. I don't think that a stiffer curfew law is going to help. If that's the best solution they can come up with it is gonna be a long summer.
Not only would he not have said a word...he would have had his list prepared if strickland or another dem were in office. The voters in this area need to get smart and look where we are as a community and why. Other parts of this great state have recovered and in fact never sank to the lows we have experienced. The good people of the valley are not to blame. It is the lack of leadership we have had for more than thirty years. Any recent gains from the discovery of gas and oil were God given {hope we don't screw this up}. The elected officails will line up for the credit from these assets while all the while trying to figure a way to keep saying they have brought us these good fortunes..{recently one has said he feed the hungry and clothed the naked}
They held houser for two years and were going to try him for capital murder. That's the death penalty right? Now all of a sudden this person whom it was said killed the women and was going to be put to death if the jury found him guilty is freed? The evidence that was there to take him to trial did not change yet Gains said he did not comit the crime. Paul Gains should be held personably responsible for this. Why should the county be on the hook for whatever action will be taken because of this. Sickening !
Taxme....your going to say the parochial schools recruit. I know you are.see I am right. The fact is they recruit every student they get. Wish they would put what elementry school every kid went to. Do you think they only take the best athletes from say Poland and send them to Mooney? My guess is those kids attended Holy Family. But if you would investigate this then you could not blame "recruting"for the less than stellar football teams your school fields. Get better on your own and quit crying.....yu people are really looking silly!....just sayen
