Goodbye, Mr. Sweet

From the standpoint of a YSU student, here's Sweet's legacy... rising tution, fees, and other expenses to fund unnecessary campus improvement projects. Granted, most universities throughout the state have hiked up their tuition over the last decade, but when the cost of a YSU single course is now one-fourth the cost of an entire year's tuition a decade ago, things are out of control.

Another point that needs made about enrollment is the reason why it has increased. Could it have anything to do with the poor economic conditions the last decade? Most people with options don't look at YSU as a first choice for their college education, believe me. It's only when going out of the area becomes so unaffordable for families that students instead opt for the lesser of two evils and go to YSU. Yes, enrollment has increased under Dr. Sweet, but correlation does not imply causality. I think you'd be hard pressed to identify a particular policy, reform, or innovation he himself has implemented that has brought hundreds of students to the university.
