This State, in terms of gov't., in general, and this area, in particular, have been hostile to business for years even though various politicians use the Incubator for photo ops to portray themselves otherwise. Any person in business is quite aware of this fact and its negative impact on job creation here. Strickland was among the more genuinely pro business politicians but, because of his base, consisting of a number of organized anti-business supporters, was too restrained. Kasich has none of that baggage and has a sufficiently newly business-enlightened large supporter base that will enable him to move forward much faster with fewer constraints. Ohio has far to go to "really" understand the needs of business as it relates to gov't and to remove or reduce those years of imposed accumulated burdens and economic drag.
Gov’t needs to get more innovative in its war on violence as you suggest. Video cameras in strategic locations, monitored 24/7 by lower paid private sector employees, as opposed to public sector high paid employees, would be of considerable help. Police can be called as needed, (more efficient use of police resources) and needed evidence of criminal activity, etc., would be quite useful. Much of the gov’t money spent for crime is allocated and used ineffectively and inefficiently, e.g., $500k for audio equipment (an after the crime response but not prevention tool) to find out from where the shots originated.
