Already paying 2 levies for new schools. There will also be a levy soon for operating expenses. This is too much, especially with Kasich eliminating the state rollback on any new property taxes. My property taxes are high enough now, won't support this levy no matter how good of a deal it is. Mooney wants to build a new high school for half this cost and people are complaining about it. Fitch is newer!

I laugh at these people complaining that Mooney wants a new building., regardless of reason. If they wanted to build a new one elsewhere, even if the area around the old school was safe, it should be suppported! THese Y-town folks crying about the move, had no problem building all these new public schools in the city, even tho they obviously weren't needed. Course, it was easy when the state was paying about 80% of the cost and not them individually!

ParlayHenry..I suppose you THINK that you're not prejudice? YOU brought race into this discussion. This move was about what was best for a school. One catholic high school in Youngstown would have been plenty to serve EVERYONE! In spite of Murray's decision, I doubt this is over!

Parlayhenry....Mooney does not want to move to get away from the blacks, like you seem to think. Their map of enrollment would stay the same. Anyone who could go to Mooney now, would have been able to go to the new school. So you would have been happy that they kept their fast black kid to score touchdowns! It is a fact that the worst area of Youngstown is the southside. Murders have happened blocks from Mooney. Ursuline is lucky being close to YSU. Mooney's neighborhood is run down. It is also a fact that most Mooney students do not come from the city of Youngstown. Boardman and Poland are 2 strong areas for Mooney. There are many more (tuition paying) parents who would send their kids to Mooney, but not at it's present location. So why not build where your student base is? Any city kid who wouldn't want to ride a bus to the new school could easily go to Ursuline. They'd have no problem taking in extra kids. It takes more than a fast kid in the backfield (white or black) to win state championships. Otherwise East would have won a few by now! This thread is about Mooney and a new school. You want to cry about how disadvantaged you are, get on your free Obama phone, call your homeys, and cry to them!
