Pat Mackondy tried to get a casino in Youngstown including an Indian Casino.
All the necessary specifics were worked out, however, a COMPACT signed by the Ohio state governor was needed and Taft (gov. at the time) also refused to sign it. When Strickland got elected, he also wouldn't sign the COMPACT. Perhaps Jim Traficant has worked something out with governor Strickland....however, Ohio still has a republican led house and senate that opposes development of an Indian Casino in Ohio and can over ride the COMPACT with a two thirds majority vote
against the Indian Casino. An Indian Casino in our state is a whole different ball game than the already approved 4 casinos in Ohio.....The Indian Casino would be allowed with a Governor approved COMPACT and no opposition from the Ohio state legislators.
