State report card: Youngstown struggling, Canfield excelling

In order to divert all of your precious tax dollars to private school management companies, and get rid of teacher unions, you first have to make the current system look incompetent so that all of you sheeple out there fall in line. Put aside Youngstown's grades, the fact that other school systems on this list also earned C's and D's should be your first clue that the whole situation was created in order to pave the way for companies like White Hat. Now many of you like that idea. That's fine, just make sure you do a little research on the sketchiness that goes on with charter schools in Ohio. There's a solid 10 years of history to dig into. But, hey, no unions!

New generation perceives different Youngstown than parents

I'm probably more like her mom's age but I went to YSU and lived on the North Side through the 90s and 2000s and always felt that downtown was always safe. I never could figure out why people didn't open hip little spots on Federal Plaza. Then right about the time I had to move away from Youngstown, 7 years ago, that very spot blew up. I'm stoked for downtown.

Youngstown school board rebukes academic panel, Supt. Hathorn

There you go John Kasich. You want to take over public education, good luck getting out of this quagmire. You should take over all the big 8 districts while you're at it with an Iraq war like surge. See you in forever unless, of course you lower the academic distress requirements and "cut and run".

Man shot on South Ave. is Youngstown's 10th homicide victim of year

Nothing new here. This is the South Side and it's been this way since 1994 at the latest. Oh, but once a year let's do a pub crawl and pretend that everything is just fine as long as you ignore the countless patrol cars that escort the pub crawlers so they don't get murdered by locals.

I would only recommend coming to this city with just enough money to buy a little crack and maybe one of the many prostitutes walking around the South Side. Altogether, you should only need $100 to sort yourself out.

Arab-American Community Festival fills downtown

This was super fun. Who was the band who played around 9-10 Saturday night? They were a 3 piece. The front man had swag for days.

Drugs charges for pair after Campbell traffic stop

6.2 grams of marijuana along with a half-full can of beer and $80 in cash, in a car? I didn't know dealers were ballin' like that in 2014! I'm clearly in the wrong profession.
