I would certainly vote FOR a casino that would benefit this area. One has only to look at what Mountaineer Resort and Casino has done for Bumfu** West Virginia. I am there quite often and have not lost my home, job, gotten a DUI, or anthing else that would send me to hell!!!! People are going to gamble and the number one enemy of gambling are the people who are the ones who are most afraid of losing the almight dollar on their own gambling games, the churches!!!!! Can you say bingo, cherry bells, anyone? It has nothing to do with morals, prostitution, addiction, etc. because if it did, you would be preaching AGAINST bingo, which many people go broke playing five times per week. Look at all of the gambling games at your festivals, and all of your "Night at the Races!" You cannot speak out of both sides of your mouth! We need the revenue that casinoes could and would bring in!! Going to Mountaineer, all I see in the parking lot are license plates from OHIO. What does THAT tell you? Wise up, people. By the way, I am a college graduate, lady.....
I don't understand how this is considered a "domestic." This is abuse and inhumane treatment of an elder and whomever did this should be put away for a very long time........
I understand how annoying it is to read posts by those who really cannot spell or use grammar correctly and KNOW it really is the fault of the Youngstown City School system. The REAL problem here, as I see it is that of tolerance. Youngstown has such a high crime rate that a situation such as this one is an everyday occurrence in the city now and no one takes this seriously anymore. In fact, most people who read this online or in the paper are laughing about it and that is the truly sad part!!!! Apathy and tolerance for this tragic and dangerous behavior! Jay Williams, what in the world have you done for the City of Youngstown as the city's first African-American mayor? I see you as a token in this capacity. Crime has gotten worse and no one listens to you. I had hope for Youngstown when you became mayor, then realized that you could not make a decision with the Reverend. Is the Reverend sleeping, or does he condone what is going on in this city, or is he blaming "other" people for this mess?
It is DEFINITELY that "Youngstown mentality" that my "college-educated" daughter and I were talking about just the other day. I am also college educated. She lives in Chicago, Illinois, go figure, no jobs here!!!!! We agreed that IF the felon could run again, the "YOUNGSTOWN MENTALITY" would definitely put him, THE Traficant, in office!! I miss Idora Park and have SO many fond memories of it as a child and a teen. It was so much fun there and I got to see David Cassidy!!!!!
Sadly, if it were to reopen, it would just be another unsafe place in the city for gang killings......
I would rather just live with the memory of those glorious good...old....days!
