I live in Niles and the major arteries were pretty well cleared ahead of the storm. The side streets, for the most part, were passable. I still do not understand why they don't put down more slag at the intersections and use almost no salt at all? The price of salt is down from last year and it would really help on the more slippery minor arteries.

I really hope that the mayor of Niles becomes aware of the drop in the price of salt. The roads in Niles have been abysmal the last few years when it snows and so far I have seen no change in the city's attitude as far as slick roads go. Stay tuned as the citizens begin to mobilize against the ambivalence of this administration and force it to start making the roads passable again in inclement weather.
