Lying Letson is at it again, now with help from the Vindy. The blame for the inaction on the Court Consolidation in Trumbull County lies at the feet of the Democrats in this county-the Commissioners and our representatives in the General Assembly. Mr. Letson and the Vindicator imply that his bill on this was first. It was not. His bill is also not backed by the Supreme Court. In fact, his bill was introduce solely to block the other bill. Compromises were offered on the ORIGINAL bill sponsored by Representative Kozlowski, but Mr. Letson and the Democrats would not accept them. Because that bill needed a 2/3 majority, and Mr. Letson and company convinced their fellow Democrats not to vote for it, he effectively killed any chance for Court Consolidation. Mr. Letson needs to be reminded that a half truth is whole lie. He needs to be reminded in November that his constituents don't need a partisan hack. They need someone who will be a public servant. Randy Law, Mr. Letson's opponent in November, has proven himself to be a public servant when he was previously in the General Assembly. Let's hope that the voters remember this.
I'm addressing my comments to the sidebar regarding the Buckeye Firearms endorsements. It should be noted that Buckeye Firearms, like many interest groups, endorses the incumbent, when all other things are equal. This is unfortunate because it allows someone like Capricious Capri Cafaro, who has some slightly conservative areas in her district now, to pose as more conservative than she really is. I think that all things being equal, it would be better if Buckeye failed to make an endorsement in these races and just showed the grades the candidates received. By the way, in the 63rd State Rep Race, Pat Paridon also received an A. Folks should be sure to go to the Buckeye Firearms website to check out all of the grades for their candidates. Although second amendment issues are important, people should also look at all of the issues and search out a candidate's complete history, not just how they are voting now.
Wait a minute, Letson and O'Brien were against this because they were not satisfied with the cost estimates that Judge Campbell had projected. But now, they are for it as long as the Judge has to run for the seat sooner. Hmmmm, that just doesn't sound quite kosher to me. We need to elect Randy Law to replace Rep. Letson and Pat Paridon to replace Rep.O'Brien.
Mr. Fuda either has a memory problem or has difficulty with the truth. I was at the meeting Tuesday evening. First, Judge Campbell never told us that the court would be in Cortland for a year. He did say that probably for the first year, there would be two court locations with one judge while the process of merging the two takes place. Second, Judge Campbell made a point not to give his opinion as to where the new court would be. He did say that it could be in Cortland, Brookfield or perhaps a central location. He pointed out that the Cortland location is owned by the county and the Brookfield location is leased at a cost of almost $60,000 per year. Commissioner Fuda also said that Judge Campbell didn't prove what the savings will be. Judge Campbell gave a fairly detailed presentation of the projected savings. He explained very thoroughly all the ways that this consolidation will save money. Obviously, no one can know the exact number, but Judge Campbell's estimates were conservative and fair. Mr. Fuda can has a right to his opinion of this idea (although he doesn't quite seem to know that-he voted for it, but he's against it?), but he has no right to his own facts.
Merger of courts unlikely for now

Trumbull commissioners back court consolidation
