Doesn't the judge have some responsibility here also as well as the prosecutor? Or do they all just want to have a deal cut so they don't have to actually conduct a trial? Collect their pay check and rubber stamp the deal?
$13,000 should be at least some type of felony with some type of fine and some level of jail time even if it is one day. Is it OK to do something like this and then just get a slap on the wrist or less? I do not see this as "justice."
To TheDrone, even if she had "something on somebody" how could anyone believe her after she has admitted to stealing $13,000?
I believe I saw an announcement from the former union president that he had complied with subpoenas for all records requested by the court. Maybe I am wrong, but that was about 2 years ago. Are they just now getting around to an investigation? I realize the legal system is slow sometimes but that seems a little ridiculous.
For me, I don't believe a word that Bush has stated here. Something is not adding up.
Since the union put out an annoucement almost 2 years ago to its members that they were aggressively pursuing this matter and they did file a civil lawsuit which appears to be active on the Mahoning Court docket, it appears that Bush's statements are not true. What's in it for Bush? Why would he be making what appears to be false statements? Does he have a motive? And why were the charges filed now since this happened so long ago? And did the union ask for a criminal investigation? I was told they had asked for a criminal investigation and it was dismissed. Obviously someone is not being truthful and it doesn't appear that it is the union making false statements.
I posted this earlier, but it seems to fit here as well. I would love to see a follow-up on that story. Is there any such thing as investigative reporting these days? If these facts are true, it smells a bit like a cover-up to me. How is the average person supposed to trust a legal system that is this corrupt? Hand washing and hand wringing at its best. I would really like to see the answers to the questions posted. I believe the public deserves the truth before election day.
I also think after they test the employees for drugs and alcohol, they should have to take a lie detector test. Would anyone in Youngstown run for political office then?

Is it time for another candidate? It seems that there are a lot of questions out there about fitness for duty. Bertram, I sure hope you do a little investigative reporting on some of these questions. And Jay better start explaining himself a little better than he has done through these various postings. Words have meaning and in the Mahoning Valley my guess is that 99% of the population would think that Jay meant abstaining from alcohol as opposed to any of the other possible definitions. Now how about some real investigative work? I will pay to read that report in the Vindy.
ChangesNeededNow: Your previous post on another article was,"Good news is there are now good people on both sides who genuinely want to work together in an ethical way to actually make things better. Let's get behind them and help them succeed," regarding the ACE leadership from which the negotiations team came.
Are you ready to rethink how great the new leadership is when they negotiated their own perks and preserved their individual benefits?
Who can you trust? Trust yourself to read the language negotiated and contemplate how it will effect you and the other union members...all of them. Ask the appropriate questions of the team you elected and call them out for items that are self serving.
Each person should do that and decide to support or not support the contract. From what I hear, it is unlikely to be supported by the members. Lots of angry people...
I may be retired from YSU, but I totally support the faculty on this one. The administration has shown no leadership...give me my money for my retirement for the second or third time around and forget about the people who are on the front line with the students. They could wipe out the administration at YSU and no student would even know it because they sit in their ivory tower. What do they do? Why has the administration grown by such a huge percentage over the last 10-15 years? Cut some administrators to free up the money for the people reaching students on a daily basis. Stop the double and triple dipping administrators who accomplish nothing.
Bertram, do you pay for parking where you work? I doubt it. The YSU President and all the top Administration not only have free parking, but they have assigned parking spaces and passes that allow them to park anywhere they want to park. One more perk they don't want to give up but take it away from the faculty!
Anderson is fixing all the administrators salaries up, up and away! Just check it out. The more they screw up the higher their salaries go. And how many of them already receive pensions on top of their huge salaries...so much sacrifice my heart is breaking for them.
An administration-induced strike in 2011 would be more ridiculous than the 2005 strike when the Review Panel found the fault for the strike with the administration. Can we say deja vu?
OSHP recovers designer counterfeit merchandise
Based on the story of the union's treasurer and her sentence, they should get about 3 years of probation and no fine.
