As is usually the case in this situation, it's much easier to ignore the problem and act like nothing is wrong...as nearby residents most likely did. I'm sure there were obvious tell-tale signs of something seriously wrong with this family. Nobody ever saw the animals outside? Nobody smelled anything foul? The children never looked dirty? It's higly unlikely, but I don't think its worth spending any additional time talking about. Lets get those kids situated, put into schools/daycare and placed in a stable home.

Lets get these parents rehabilitated and reunited with their children. That should be the only priority here. Only god knows where these people went wrong, but that's in the past now. If something isn't done, you might as well add two more people (the children) to the long list of screwed up people in this area that we'll be dealing with in the upcoming years.

I'm sorry, the gamgling industry is saturated with to many casino's nationwide. Do the homework people and you'll see that many have filed bankruptcy in the last two years...including Greektown up in Detroit. Nearly half the states with gambling have seen operators file bankruptcy. In such a slow economy, casino's hardly seem like a good idea to raise revenue, considering the negative things they bring with them (drugs, prostitution, gambling addicts, etc.).

fudputer;
'to ysu grad..with all your education--what the hell have you done except type!!!! Betras -hurry --now that your ideas went bust--see where you can get your share,for the people of course' same old story-same old s---..
long live 4 Aces...'

Fudputer...I could say the same about you, its way to easy to knock down my opinion but offer no solution yourself. You also have done nothing but type. Keep your opinion to yourself if all you have are insults....your response was very weak. Naturally Betras is talking about the tax revenue now...he has no choice since the issue passed.

AKAFR1, i really don't think comparing the surrounding area of V&M to the geography of Greektown are the same. The vicinity surrounding V&M died back in 1980 when US Steel closed down....literally tens of thousands of jobs were gone. V&M barely employs 500 now. The scales of economy are a little different today...it's hardly enough to clean up the area and attract new business. You would need to bring in multiple new businesses that employed thousands to make a difference there.

My only point is casino's will solve very little. I agree it will bring new tax revenue to the state, as well as new jobs. However, it will never meet the lofty numbers that casino operators are promising. With every border state already having gambling, Ohio will attract very little out of state gamblers, other than the initial curious travelers. Once that early enfatuation is gone, why would they come back when they already have gambling in their own states? Sorry folks, we already missed the boat on gambling being a big winner in Ohio.

Issue 3 is a joke. There are casino's all over the country filing for bankruptcy currently. This is not the way to fix our state budget problems. Attracting new businesses and jobs is how you do it. Casino's only bring blight, crime and gambling addicts. Perhaps some of you have visited Greektown up in Detroit. It's a beautiful facility, but the surrounding geography looks like a war zone. It brought few new businesses and jobs. Now the jobs may be in jeopardy as Greektown is in bankruptcy protection as of May 2008. This same scene has happened in states all over the country...bankruptcy. There are to many casino's now!

Our governor is trying to balance our state budget by bringing in the one thing he vowed he would never do during his campaign for office...casino's and legalized gambling. What a hypocrit....we need new leadership in Ohio!

Mark my words, 34,000 jobs and $500 million in state tax revenues will never be realized. If we achieve half of that I'll be surprised.

I can't believe we actually wrote into our state constitution where the casino's will be and who will own them! That's like writing into our federal constitution that microsoft will determine what operating system will be in all computers. That's unfair, since there would be no competition, which our capitalist economy is based on.

Can we repeal this issue? Any comments?

If he had no probable cause to pull her over and run her plates...he should be terminated for abusing his power and not following proper procedure. At the very least, he should be suspended witout pay for a few months.

I'm not so sure about the jail though, they were only following their procedures for processing an inmate. However, prison jumpsuits with holes in the crotch is not acceptable. That should never happen and they should give a formal apology to the woman. Unfortunately, the strip search and shower may very well be procedure for processing a new inmate who's spending the night. This is done to protect the jail gaurds.

It sounds like she has a case here!

Did this guy own the home, was he visiting it or was he just renting? I live in this area and have noticed alot of houses available for rent. I've also noticed some pretty precarious looking people living in these rentals. The slim from Youngstown seems to continue to encroach on the suburbs!
