"The assessment itself, to determine what chemicals and metals are in the soil, will take a year to 18 months" WHY? Can't they just dig 500-1000 test pits over a month or two and get it tested? Drill for groundwater tests and call it a day? Sounds like 6-10 months of work to me. Too ambitious?
Any and all road construction up for review in this area should be welcomed with open arms. A giant project like this would support countless families directly in this area for years. $204 Million would be the largest road construction project in the history of District 4. Not only that, but this could help sway decision on the V&M project. This area is currently in competition for the expansion, this would be one more selling point to bring it to Y-Town. And what about AskMeIfiCare's statement about Allega & Shelly, these 2 contractors have completed some great work in the area. Allega has just completed a huge project at the Meander Reservoir (I-80) that employed area workers since 2006. I'm sure they ran into complications but the job was still completed on time. I actually hope Allega gets the job because they do concrete work instead of asphalt. If the job goes asphalt, we will be re-surfacing it in a couple years anyhow. All I'm saying is we can use all the help we can get in this area, it's right here in front of us.
