I too, don't normally see things in color but I think it's really sad that the families may profit from what was irresponsibility of ALL in that vehicle & the parents' lack of supervision of them. I'm sorry their children are gone but what responsible parent doesn't know for sure where their adolescent child is in the pre-dawn hours? If people want to donate money, how about a scholarship fund for DESERVING young people whose parents work but don't qualify for grants & can't afford a college fund because they would rather work than go on welfare????
The entire Manicini family has always been a class act. Tragedy they never deserved has hit them from many sides. I felt so honored to have been a friend of the family, having met Ellen when I was a cosmetology student at Choffin WAY back when. I used to watch Ray box Golden Gloves and bowled with his mom, dad, sister and grandmother until I moved to Florida when Ellen Mancini took one of my dogs because the weather would have been too hard for her. She loved her as I did, on Caimbridge in the same house where she raised her entire family, which I visited whenever I was "home" from Florida. Raymond and his entire family are truly honorable and sincerely wonderful people and anyone that thinks or says otherwise is totally uneduacated about the Mancini family.
What is most horrendous here is that these offenses occurred to this poor baby while in custody of children services. Why were these visits not supervised?! Someone at Children's Services needs to be investigated as well. This seems to be happening all over the country. Children are removed for their safety and protection and the organization that removes them fails to protect them and keep them safe! I personally heard a caseworker for Children's Services here in Florida "cry" about how little she was paid. The fact of the matter is we all have a job to do in our occupations. Either take pride in it and do it to the best of your ability or find another job
SSDave..You are right. Cost of living is a bit lower in Lee County. I started in Naples 28 years ago & LOVE it here. I hope to stay 'til cremation time. Will still come back to see beautiful Mill Creek Park and many good people, but only to visit.
I grew up in Youngstown and moved to SW Florida for work in 1984. Please don't think things are any better here. The unemplyment rate is 8.8% in Collier County where I live and 9.3% in Lee County where I work. Please don't come here looking for a better chance at work. Cost of living is utterly ridiculous and wages are incredibly low with no unions to protect you (right to work state) and no job stability (at will state). I am lucky that I came early enough in the game to save to afford some property but even now, only the rich can afford to buy here. I miss a lot of the spirit of Yougstown and read the Vindicator daily. Get to work and take back your city! Oh, and Green, why does the rate for Blacks make a difference? We are all people, red, yellow, black, white, purple. There are good and bad in all colors. Don't make it a racial thing, puleeze.
My sincerest sympathies to Bob's family and friends. We were raised in the same wonderful neighborhood, and, yes, something should be done to prevent further accidents but it is a shame that I see so many "I, I, I" and me, me me comments. Bob lived an honorable life and my prayers go out to him and all those he left too soon. May all your memories bring you smiles and laughter.
Football is important part of high school social life and tradition. I went to The Rayen High School in the seventies and was heartbroken when they tore it down. Kudos to those who want to be a part of a solution rather than complaining about a problem. It's good to see people trying to build the city up instead of tearing it down. I would never think to tell people how to spend their money and where to contribute. God bless those that can and do donate.
Give me a break...Traficant is a crook who stole so much money you'd think he could afford a decent toupee. I remember his cock and bull stories to explain taking money from the mob; asking one of his deputies to drive alongside him on the freeway and shoot into his van so it would appear to be a mob hit! What a joke. Superstar is right. If the judicial system in Y-town was legitimate back then, Traficant WOULD be in jail for life. I cannot believe that there are naive people that think he has done so much good for the community. Maybe he's done much less than an HONEST politician would have. I miss my friends in Y-town and I miss Mill Creek Park but I don't miss Traficant's malarky.
I didn't know him personally but I went to school with his cousins, Joe and Spiro "Stretch" O'Neill and hope that they, too are doing well. I have always felt Ed was an extremely talented actor and down to earth person. Congratulations to him and his family from a former Northsider and current Florida resident.
Donations from across U.S. total $42,600 for teens’ funerals

Man’s death in standoff is ruled a suicide
I didn't read where this man's religious affiliation was stated....why must there be a stereotype??? He was obviously troubled; to understate it.
