Democrats accuse locals of being racist toward Obama

I read online the article titled Democrats accuse locals of being racist and wish to comment. I disagree with the political initiatives and “solutions” offered by Barak Obama and other Democratic members of Congress. I will not vote for Mr. Obama in the November election.

I am a white male, registered Democrat and I happen to live down South in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Our mayor, Kip Holden, is an African-American and a Democrat. Although I generally vote for Republican candidates, I voted for Mr. Holden four years ago and I plan to vote for him again in the coming election.

I state this because I determine how to vote by selecting the man (or woman) that is best qualified for the job, and not by his political party or the color of his skin. If I believed in or had any confidence in Mr. Obama’s positions, I would probably vote for him.

Judging by many of the interviews that I’ve seen or read, I believe that there are as many, if not more, people that will vote for Mr. Obama because of his race as there are that will vote against him for that reason.

If Mr. Obama looses the election, his loss will be cited by people like Representatives Letson and Hagan as proof that America is still a racist society.

I resent being called “racist” by partisans, such as Reps. Letson and Hagan, that only consider their own position as valid. His comments reminded me of the saying, “My mind is made up, don’t confuse me with the facts.”
