Top Rank doesn't have to pay the bars a dime over what the bar paid to show the fight. Take a look at the contracts they sign; it clearly stipulates that if attendance is at a certain number that the company reserves the right to refund the amount paid and not allow broadcast. Boo hoo if you're a bar owner and wasted thousands on advertising without knowing for sure that you'd be able to show it.
I respect her greatly and she has done a great job with Student Affairs. VP for Student Affairs is NOT a traditional line to a University Presidency, however. If she applied to any other school, I would beyond highly doubt she'd even make a short list for that fact. YSU already turned her down to be Provost within the last 3 years. If they make her president, it will come off as beyond odd.
I hope the Board doesn't drink the Kool-Aid with Anderson. She's an asset to YSU, but we already ruled she wasn't capable to be Provost... she isn't President material either. I'm hoping they brought her this far in the process merely due to the time she has spent and the good things she has done at YSU.
I hope to see messages with similar sentiments every time a school suffers a loss going into the future. These senseless occurrences seem to happen regularly these days and while I believe all of Youngstown agrees with your sentiment, I only wonder where this direct, public outreach was for the East cheerleader or the countless other schools that have suffered similar tragedies in recent months and years.
To repeat: Jay Williams not in the running
Strickland is going with Yvette McGee-Brown.
