It was not so long ago that the character of the man who served as the Mahoning County Prosecutor left our county with an ugly, tainted reputation with justice a mere after-thought. That was James Philomena. Justice has to be blind. Our elected officials have to be temperate and fair and not blinded by race or religion or , at the very least, reactive, emotional and vindictive. In the Prosecutors job, you cannot separate the man's character from his job performance.
I disagree....when you are weighing elements of a crime and deciding charges to be filed..if you are a prosecutor who equates an African American with "dime bags"....guess who is going to get charged. A person who makes an off-handed remark like the one reported and then is given that power and authority to take ones freedom cannot be in the prosecutors office.
I think that we as voters have an unprecedented opportunity to truly know WHO it is that we are voting for. Jay has always been like a bit of a chameleon. He transforms himself to accomodate whomever he is talking to at the moment If you are a business owner ,he will work to encourage new business. If you are a victim of a crime....he promises to be your champion. Rarely do we get to see inside the man that promises to be that champion. But we do with Attorney Macejko....fried chicken and a dime bag. It was a joke among friends on private phones. So what...except that if we accept that as just a joke among friends and dont raise hell about it then we might have well said it ourselves. I am offended by those whose job it is to lead us if this is allowed to pass by
I think the answer is pretty clear. There is at least one person who knows the origin of that text....Attorney Hartup, who I am sure has been promised a future in the Mahoning County Prosecutors office should Macejko win. Attorney Hartup...did you send that text as Jay has inferred? Why is no one asking him...its a question that needs to be asked.
Mr. Milliken...did you check your facts with Ms. Byrd? I dont believe your article is accurate...perhaps you can touch base with her today and reprint the article tomorrow.
I watched the debate and was curious about Attorney Macejko's characterization of his treatment of Attorney Ally as "bumping"heads...as happens in all offices when people work together. Attorney Ally was awarded $110,000 ..thats quite a bump on the head. Attorney Macejko is either in denial or can no longer recognize the truth.
If Attorney Macejko has truly only known about this text for the past week, why have no actions been taken by him or Mayor Sammarone who is responsible to a constituency of largely African Americans voters? That attitude of racial superiority is dangerous in powerful positions (like a Prosecutor) where peoples liberty is so easily taken away. If Attorney Ally is a "POS" according to Macejko then it is not a far leap to imagine him texting about President Obama.
Wake up Attorney Hartup....you are being thrown under the proverbial bus.
What if Macejko is fired?

Alcohol, cigarettes' effect on fetus limits evidence in Zorger homicide case
I always thought justice came from the knowing the truth...not suppressing or manipulating it. Not much justice going on in that courtroom
