Playing in this postseason tournament is a very good thing for YSU. Not only does it enhance their profile for future recruits, but it allows the coaches and team to continue to practice. The extra practice time to work on your skills and the teams system is crucial to the development of these kids. (Especially the younger players who may not have gotten a lot of minutes) The tournament game(s) will allow these kids to gain much needed experience in a pressure atmosphere. You cant teach that! For YSU, this is a great team building experience for future seasons, and these games are vital in their development for future seasons.
I dont cheer for ohio state, actually cant stand them. Being originally from the Pittsburgh area and rooting for Pittsburgh teams including Pitt, hardly make me a frontrunner. Heck, I still root for the Pirates, I definitely doubt you could call me a frontrunner. Your logic is a little off JMOC. You guys think because your Brownies aren't on, your being screwed. Make the playoffs, heck just be in a playoff race once in 10 years, and you might get back on tv in this area. Until then, WKBN, I applaud you for having the guns to show meaningful football games!
Mr DeTorro, I can respect your passion for your team, and I would be upset if my team was not televised locally. However, just by saying that because the Browns are in Northeast Ohio, they should be shown is pretty weak. Pittsburgh is actually closer to us, than Cleveland is. Pittsburgh has just as great, if not greater tradition than the Browns, and when it comes down to having to pick which team to show... I personally would want to see a team that still has a shot at the playoffs. If the roles were reversed, I would not cry in my beer, if the Brownies were shown over the Steelers. Please do everyone a favor and BOYCOTT WKBN, maybe then WKBN won't feel conflicted about showing one of the premier NFL teams over one of the NFL's doormats!
As a proud alumnus of Mount Union, I have watched them play for 20 plus years. As a valley native, I have watched YSU for 30 plus years. I don't think Mount would even be close to Ysu. YSU has much more size and speed than Mount, and would easily handle my Purple Raiders. Yes Mount has some players make the NFL and may have 1 or 2 more this year, but overall the size/speed factor greatly favors the Penguins. It would be like Brookfield(very good program) playing a Fitch/Boardman in a high school playoff game. They might hang for a quarter or half, but ultimately would be handled by the end of the game. I do feel that Mount Union has a better coaching staff than the one currently at YSU.
Offense puts butts in the seats, but DEFENSE wins games and championships. Amazing that YSU will waste these offensive skill guys, because of a total lack of interest in defense. Maybe move one of those excess running backs or wide receivers over to the defensive secondary. They cant be any worse than whats there. Yikes
Coaches include Jack Kucek and John Zizzo...wow I'm sure those kids were taught some good life lessons from those two. Zizzo has been banned from at least two leagues that I know of, and Kucek...well lets just say he's been a cancer wherever he's been. Hi I'm Jack Kucek, you know I played in the majors. What a couple of jerks. Great role models for those kids Glaciers! At least you had Bob Tinkey, a very classy individual.
The sandwiches at Chik Fil-A are damn tasty. Thats why I go to Chik Fil-A now and will continue to go in the future. I really could care less what their or for that matter anyone else's stance is on gay marriage. I just know their food is delicious and when I frequent their establishments, all I really want is a tasty delicious sandwich!
