"A nation of sheep begets a government of wolves."
=E Murrow

* Why do our taxes continue to rise, government services stay worse than ever, and we just pay the taxes and re-electthose who raised them?

* Why do people in government never acknowledge a mistake and why do we accept that?

* Why does the government continue to regulate private behavior?

* Why do both Republicans and Democrats bring about bigger and more expensive government?

* What ever happened to our individual inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that are guaranteed by the Declaration of Independence, yet ignored by the governments elected to protect them?

* Why does Congress keep telling the States what to do?

* Why does every public office holder swear allegiance to the Constitution, yet very few follow it?

* Why are we afraid of the governments we have hired to protect our freedoms?

Regarding CALEA, the standards it created are essentially still in place. Going after accreditation while simultaneously addressing the multitude of issues and challenges presented on the streets with the manpower levels as they are is certainly a good topic for debate.

Again, could we just wait and see what happens?

Honestly, Apollo, the only person that has brought up a future levy is you...such as this from another thread - "Will the first levy attempt be in May alongside the sales tax or will they do a special election?"

Could we just wait and see?

So a candidate belongs to a number of service organizations, goes to baseball games and has a link to the Mahoning County Democrats while running in a non-partisan race and we're supposed to vote for them?

And I am tired of hearing the phrase "tough economic times" used in canned campaign spiel, especially while I watch the 224 project (with its sidewalks to nowhere and the accompanying walk-don't 'walk' gadgets get replaced a second time) go on and on and on and on for what? So, people can get to Poland and Canfield quicker?

Putting department heads in the front row, browbeating, axe grinding, making an issue out of take-home cars and contradicting oneself later on that very issue is not exactly using tax dollars efficiently and certainly doesn't help one get re-elected.

I live for that day. And so do others. Those working the jail should pass this on to the prisoners.

“I know what you’re thinking, punk. You’re thinking ‘did he fire six shots or only five?’ Now to tell you the truth I forgot myself in all this excitement. But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world and will blow your head clean off, you’ve gotta ask yourself a question: ‘Do I feel lucky?’ Well, do ya, punk?”

Don't worry. They are in the process of tweaking your property values.

Laws that created the state sales and income taxes decades ago made counties, municipalities and townships the state's partner and promised a big chunk of those revenue streams. The theory: State taxes would hamstring the ability to raise taxes locally, so the state turnback would only be fair.

The partnership proved one-sided. The legislature continually tweaked distribution formulas, chipping away at the turnbacks to solve state funding problems.

You watch. They'll do the same with Issue 3 monies.

Nice attire worn by the Major and the Sheriff. Why isn't Ludt mentioned in this article?

Out in West Texas, an oxymoronic weather phenomenon known as a "dry rainstorm" often occurs. It's particularly tough on farmers. These storms build with all of the tell-tale signs of a downpour headed toward the farmers' fields-- dark clouds on the horizon and lightning that flares like a pinball machine, followed by the promising clap and rumble of rolling thunder. But then--no rain. The clouds, lightning, and thunder blow right over the area, yet they deliver not one drop of the nurturing water the farmers are desperate to have.

Miller was nothing but a "dry rainstorm." Thunder ain't rain. The chemistry was bad. Get over it. Oh, and don't forget she put her name in the hat to replace Boccieri. Yes, it does 'appear many people have a short memory.' She is what she is.
