Canfield replaces girls softball coach

Insideslant,

Blame on both sides for what? The lawsuit, the coach getting fired, the coach's inability to establish a rapport with the parents, the superintendent intentionally not documenting things so they wouldn't go public?

Blame for what specifically?

What years have you been at Canfield softball games and witnessed the fans behavior being less than desirable? Recently?

The players and the fans probably change year to year. Blanket statements that the Canfield softball fans behavior is less than desirable is a stereotype.

Plenty of people keep their mouth's shut intentionally not to upset this coach knowing the retaliation history. Yes, the coach made such an accusation along with saying parents allegedly inappropriately questioned coaching decisions and instilled negativity in their child. But, the coach wouldn't even comment for the article? I have to wonder in what context and when the coach made those written allegations? The AD admits year after year there were always complaints.

Everything seems to be on the right track with the new coach. It's a new era in Canfield softball. Why must people want to anticipate and hope for the worst? The coach is establishing a wonderful rapport with the players and the parents. Again, left wondering about people who want bad things to happen and things to go wrong? Let's remember this is a high school sponsored sport and it is for the high school students. The people involved now seem to get that. All working together for the best interest of the students.

Oh please Mspig,
You are a very contradictory person. You are salivating at the thought there will be trouble with the new coaching staff. You are not a friend to the new coach nor to the girls currently playing or will be playing in the future for Canfield high school.

This past coach was troubled. Can you tell by the sheer number of comments?

Thank goodness the Hyde's put the pressure on the administration. If they had not nothing would have changed. Now, the girls will be coached well by dedicated knowledgable coaches and also they will finally have the support and backing of a booster club. Something the old coach could not and would not do.

Instead of wishing for the worst, why not wish them all the best and move on? What is your betch? The prior coach was a problem for many years. Protected by the administration for who she was connected to. Good riddens! Get her out of volleyball too!

Hang up her clipboard. She can't relate to young ladies or their parents. Bring someone in who can handle the job in a classy, professional and respectful manner.

Kudos to the AD for bringing in the new softball coach. Hopefully, he will do the same with the volleyball program. Bring someone in who has the love of the game and the enthusiasm for the girls like coach Melewski has.

You are obviously here just to stir the pot. Do you think you have helped anyone?

mspiggy must take Sundays off or she/he lost her moral outrage.

Back to the whole booster issue. Why would the AD allow this coach not to have/support a booster? Every other sport at Canfield has a booster club. Why did softball and volleyball not have booster clubs? Cause the coach has no people skills?

But, it's the parents who are the problems. yeah right.... Why keep such a polarizing person as head coach of 2 sports?

Why?

So invested mspiggy. Who could you possibly be? You know all about the softball meeting? Where you there?
Actually, glad you brought up the boosters. Now Canfield Softball has a booster club! That never ever was going to happen with the old coach. The one who couldn't for some reason establish a rapport with the parents.
Canfield softball is finally on the right track now. Thank goodness for the new coaches and the dedicated parents. Thank you Hydes for suing Canfield, cause nothing good was going to happen to the softball program without you doing that!

Now, if only the volleyball program could get an overhaul. A volleyball booster sounds good...but if the old coach comes back we already know she can't get along with the parents. The kids suffer. Stop protecting bad problematic coaches and put the kids first!

Thanks Walter for insight into your psyche. And also letting us know you are misogynistic. Your poor wife.

What I can not understand is how anyone believes that this is just about parents not getting their way? Because the Superintendent and AD say so?

The Superintendent who won't document anything so it won't go public?

The AD who says parents and kids need their medicine? Who also calls parents who contact him with legitimate concerns names like passive aggressive and gadflies? Who fails to follow up on complaints? Show us proof that you ever have disciplined this coach. God knows you have tons of complaints and plenty of opportunity to take action. You did nothing.

Those two?

Their credibility is non-existent.

I wondered that too TurningTables. But, I didn't want to mention it because I thought *poof* those happy content former athletes would suddenly materialize. lol

All the time that has went by from the first article in November to this one, and not any defenders and supporters. Not a single former player.... speaks volumes.

What does "no good deed goes unpunished" mean in this email?

I'd like some context to this statement. The rest of it is pretty clear. The AD acts like the coach is the be all and end all to coaching. Her assessment in his mind must always be right. He must believe nothing else influences her coaching decisions expect pure unabashed talent, hard work and a good attitude. Wrong.

No, nothing could be further from the truth. She has a chip on her shoulder about her own children's playing experiences all the way back to one of her kids who got "wronged" at the Canfield baseball club when he was in little league.

The softball team could never utilize the batting barn or the fields (the one's YSU plays on) because the coach had a grudge against someone there going back all those years. Thank goodness that baloney is over.

She's also told everyone how she's had to watch her own kids ride the pine. So, I guess she feels justified in playing games with other people's kids just for the sake of playing 'em.

Humor me. What good deed is the AD referring to? Giving her biased assessment on the players that includes all her other "baggage" and agenda?

Wolf06,

You didn't really mean to use the word "unbiased" did you?

One of the ongoing issues with this coach is her bias. She notoriously plays favorites. Or she mistreats players she doesn't like for whatever reason. For example, not liking the parents for going to the AD to complain about something she inappropriately did or said to a player. Then, she hates the parents for going to the AD and takes it out on the kid.
She's had her successes not because she is such a great coach, but because she has been lucky enough to be stacked with talent. It's the parents who invest time and money into their daughters to play travel ball or JO volleyball. That's how the players are so good and she gets to reap the benefits.
Everyone knows playing for her is a joke. It's miserable. She doesn't have a clue on how to build team morale. Or how to converse with a player who has mustered up the nerve to ask about playing time. Maybe the AD should send her to some coaching or psychology classes before he let's her coach volleyball again. Please don't try and mislead people into thinking she gives frank and unbiased assessments of players abilities. That's not at all what she does. And for the AD to use those words just shows the contempt that has been generated by the school (coach, AD, and Super)towards the parents. The parents are not the problem.

Why couldn't she establish a rapport with the parents? If she can't deal with the adults how can she deal with the young ladies?

Crash sends eight to hospital

Kids from Canfield on the South side? For what?
One thing comes to mind.

Marc Hood is having a bad month.

He was involved in that "gun prank" in Canfield a few weeks ago. They lied to the police.

Wonder what they told the police as to why they were driving around on the South side?

Of course there is more to the story we don't know. Zambrini openly admits not documenting stuff so the public won't know!

June 2012 Zambrini retires. Hopefully, the board is reading these comments and changes their ways.

The public has a right to know what is going on in their schools and documenting complaints and disciplinary actions of coaches is part of their jobs. Whether they like to or not.

They are accountable for their actions or the lack of them.

They want their levies to pass. Show you are accountable.

It is hard to believe this has went as far as it has.

What an embarrassment for such a highly esteemed school district.
