"Tigerlily", please enlighten me, what has "improved under his watch"? Now, I will tell you, nothing improved under McKelvey's watch either; except his PER pension. But this town is not "in decline" anymore, that was in the McKelvey (eight year) reign, it is now dowgraded to "decayed"; a point of "no return". I am not going to argue with you because you have hope for this town, and I've labeled it "Hope-less". The Article was lauding Jay Williams, I just want to know from the eyes of people who reside in this area, what he's really done that has "improved" Youngstown.

Take a ride in your car (or the WRTA) from the Mahoning Avenue Bridge (west) towards Meridian Road and what do you see; "Urban Blight". Now take the WRTA from the Market Street War Veteran's Bridge (south) to Midlothian Blvd. and what do you see; "Urban Blight". Next, take the WRTA from the Mahoning County Jail on Belmont Avenue (north) to Gypsy Lane and what do you see; "Urban Blight". And finally, take Rayen Avenue towards Oak Street and go (east) towards Lincoln Knolls Plaza and what do you see; "Urban Blight". I've now covered every "Main Artery" into Youngstown, now ask yourself, who/what would want to relocate in this area; especially after you pick up the newspaper and see that for a city of 70,000 residents we have a murder rate comparable to a city of 500,000; our schools rank LAST (612th) out of 612 School District's in the State of Ohio. The person who wrote the magazine article is probably half my age, was born with a remote-control in his hand, and was given a trophy for finishing 6th.
"Urban Reality", this town will never come back. with what culture of bullet-riddled SUV's remains. The YPD cannot even find a place to get a cup of coffee in the City Limits on 3rd Shift. All Jay Williams is doing is filling a slot in local governemnt; that being Mayor of Youngstown. Now, I am not blaming him for it all. You have to go back to Pat Ungaro to find the last time any "thought-process" was used to even try to make forward progress in this urban-blight of a municipality.
Honor "Jimbo" after eight years in the "slammer" with a Banquet; urge him to run for Office as a Felon, then kick a Trustee in the teeth because he has personal problems by coming out with this story a few days before the Election, when these allegations have been surfacing for almost two years. Not sticking up for the Austintown Trustee, but wow are you people in this Valley screwed up in the head.
I'd want to play there too, if I "controlled" the referees from the Loge. A "points-taken-off-the-scoreboard" two weeks ago made them the Number 1 Seed. Add the six points to the Final score Don, and you'd be a third seed; and 9-1. You'll never get past the Final Four in Division III. Go Campbell!!!!! Soup City!!!!!!!!
"Innocent until proven guilty"? Let me guess, "I don't know how those bodies got there!". Then he'll get twenty years of Appeals before they finally execute him.
Well after last week, no one really knows the "official" score of a football game anymore that Mooney participates in; its a "rolling" number, since the refs that run their games have a tendency to take points off the scoreboard at "a press box phone call" moments notice.
