Officer receives 5-day suspension

First offense in 15 years. First time caught more likely. Funny, how most people work 30-40 years and never commit any sort of offense and yet public employees and cops/firemen in particular are given special dispensation.

Sending a message to Warren massage parlors that go too far

Are you people so naive as to believe that prostitution isn't occurring at these parlors? Most of the masseuses at the Oriental ones can barely speak English, of course they are trafficked. My guess is certain connected "businessmen" own these things and make a ton of money that gets kicked back to some to look the other way. That's the only way they can continue to operate unabated.

GM Lordstown cruises to banner year

Funny how the obvious UAW members are more than happy to bash Fair and Equal but if the shoe was on the other foot, they'd be doing the same thing. I for one don't blame him for doing everything he does to bring the unfairness to light. Keep up the good fight F&E, there are people out here who are with you 100%.

Gay nativity scene vandalized at Southern Calif. church

So AtownAugie, if there is vandalism and or theft of regular Nativity scenes, that makes the vandalism and or theft of the gay one OK?

100s turn out to oppose proposed postal service closing

I wonder if those who came to protest the closing would be so supportive if they, and they alone were the funding source to keep it open?

Time to right size the Postal Service and make it operate in the reality of the marketplace. If volumes are down, then they must shrink to coincide with the business.

Mail center hopes public can deliver it from closure

The USPS is old technology, inefficient, and overpaid, whose time has passed. It should be slimmed down to meet the demand. The choice is clear. The employees can accept cuts to their compensation to save jobs or watch jobs disappear. The taxpayers should not shoulder the burden keeping obsolete industries alive.

White House cannot allow crucial city agency to close

thethinker is correct, the inner circle of corruption is quite amazing. One of the things you get when you have a media controlled by one or two corporations and a print media without the financial where with all to do any investigative journalism is increasing corruption, nepotism, favoritism, and waste.

White House cannot allow crucial city agency to close

It really is amazing the scams being perptrated on the taxpayers and none of the participants is ever prosecuted. Shut this agency down.

Public pensions in free fall

The day of reckoning is fast approaching. Todays pension promises are based on 7% growth in the pension funds year after year. That growth is not happening so the alternative is one of these 2.

1. Higher taxes to make up the shortfall.
2. Reduced benefits.

I doubt the taxpayers who are severely underfunded in their own 401K's are going to want to also fund the overly generous public pensions.
