400 at YSU get bonuses of $2,625

What a great time to be a university employee, wish I had received $2600.00 bonus this year and how about the $4500.00 bonus last year and $1250.00 in 2008.
I thought these people were suppose to be ambassadors of the university no matter what their job description or pay level is. It is their job to be there for the students, lets face it that's who paying the bill. As for the increase in enrollment it certainly is known that in tough economic times enrollment goes up. I for one cannot afford to send my kids to the big schools(i.e. OSU, BGSU, OU, Miami and so on) so we have elected to send our kids to YSU. Certainly we did not base our decision solely on economics. YSU is a good school and produces a great product, I will continue to send my kids to YSU and will have to grin and bear it every time we get our tuition bill knowing that I am paying the bonuses to such deserving employees. Two questions though, does the ACE membership get discounted tuition for them selves or immediate members of their families, and if so are they also paying the hike to cover these bonuses and when enrollment drops significantly, does the contract read that the bonuses be given back?

January was good month for Chevrolet Cobalt sales

First of all GM is no better than Toyota, Honda, or any other foreign car manufacturer located in this country. They have been in joint ventures with Toyota, Suzuki, Isuzu, Daewoo, and Honda over the last quarter century. They are just as guilty for opening the door to the Asian manufacturers to bring or manufacture their product in this country. And how about those plants in Mexico shipping $30,000.00, $40.000.00, and $50,000.00 SUV's and Pick Up trucks to the U.S. so that you can buy those up. Is that buying american products from american companies? You also conveniently forget about the 10's of millions of recalls that GM has had over the years for fires, brakes, steering, and yes sticky accelerator problems.

18-year-old arrested tonight in murder of elderly St. Dom's parishioner

Great Job YPD
LtMac, you are correct, people need to support the levies and taxes to provide police services. The citizens of the community also need to show their support of the victim by showing up in numbers during all the court sessions and filling them to capacity, telling these judges, prosecutors, and lawyers that we have had enough. Tell them we want maximum bonds, a trial that finds this thug guilty without a reasonable doubt, and the death sentence without this thug languishing in prison on appeals. And if they do not perform vote them out of office.

Now, there’s an honest professor

YSU is a good school and produces a great product, but to say that the ACE membership deserves a raise because enrollment is up and their participation is part of that is ludicrous. I will continue to send my kids to YSU and will have to grin and bear it every time we get our tuition bill knowing that I am paying the bonuses to such deserving employees. One question I asked on a previous article about these bonuses that never got a response, does the ACE membership get discounted tuition for them selves or immediate members of their families, and if so are they paying the hike to cover these bonuses?

High-speed rail plan discussed in Youngstown

Not to mention all the pot holes, broken down railroad crossings and crime ridden neighbor hoods that you have travel through at some miserable time in the middle of that to get to the train station because the only time it would stop in Youngstown is 2:00am in the morning (Remember Amtrak?)

‘Come to YSU, we even have computers’

Now, while the employees are not the major reason why parents and their children have made a decision to attend YSU, it should be one based on their willingness to assist the students, not their union contract. As I do not agree with these bonuses either, looks like fact of life that cannot be changed at this time.My question is what happens to these bonuses when enrollment drops due to the economy and no one can afford these higher education costs. I am a firm in getting my kids a higher education and while I disagree with this bonus, I will continue to pay tuition to YSU for my kids. We will have to give up a little more, hope the ACE union would see fit to do the same. One other question, does the union membership pay full tuition for their kids including the increase in tuition or do the receive a "discounted" tuition?

‘Come to YSU, we even have computers’

As a "YSU" parent, I have made decisions based on the economy as the major decision for my kids higher education. One has graduated from Williamson School of Business, another will graduate in May 2010 from Rayen School of Engineering, and another enrolling in the fall of 2010. While there has been an increase in enrollment over the last several years, I believe that a lot has to do with the state of the economy. Maybe more parents are preferring to send their kids to local schools where the tuition costs a lot less than the bigger schools (i.e. OSU, BGSU, Miami)

Now, while the employees are not the major reason why parents and their children have made a decision to attend YSU, it should be one based on their willingness to assist the students, not their union contract. As I do not agree with these bonuses either, looks like fact of life that cannot be changed at this time.My question is what happens to these bonuses when enrollment drops due
