Youngstown man gets 6 years in 2009 slaying

Mahoning Valley Judicial system at its best. Shot 23 times and they call 6 years JUSTICE. Only in YTOWN can you kill someone and get away with it. Overcrowding my ass. Start giving the death penalty to these worthless thugs and maybe they will think twice before they kill someone. My prayers and sympathies go out to the victims family.

McLaughlin's body found Thursday in a Unionville Cemetery

What a coward is so right. The world is a better place without him. No one going to be crying at his funeral. My sympathies for her family.

Boardman group sees police levy as ‘caustic’

VOTE YES.... Crime has settled in my neighborhood, drug dealer living next door, break-ins, arson, junkie also next door and I live in what used to be a NICE area. Police in Boardman are SUPER. With their help, some of my neighbors are now headed to jail. I am tired of it all.

Teen driving stolen car held in death of 9-year-old

Greeneyez so sorry for your loss. You are aboslutely correct. There is a family that will never hold their child again and all you people can think about is race and hatred. Yes a 16 year old stole a car and killed this child. Is he from the Hood? Is he black? Is he in a gang? Is he on welfare? Is he roaming the streets at 3 am?? Dont know, dont care right now. Right now all you should be thinking about is how sad that a 9 year old child is dead.

Margetilchunk - how do you know these 16 year olds room the streets at 3 am? How do you know these families are on welfare? How do you know they dont have productive parents? You are making judgemental comments that are part of the problem. I am a white educated woman that finds the overall lazy black or white person on welfare discusting. But you are ASSuming which makes you the A**.

High school sweethearts shot dead

Tom Wills, Denise Dick, Mark Sweetwood and the rest of the reporters involved in this story at the Vindicator and the local TV stations:

You have taken jounalism to a new low. I really hope that you were not aware, when you and the other media mongrels went knocking door to door to gain information about such a heartbreaking tragedy, is that you were knocking on FAMILY MEMBERS DOORS. That entire end of the street is the home to relatives of the Smith family and have been for years. These family members had to put up with reporters knocking on their doors over and over and over again ALL day long when they had not even had time to adjust to two family members that are no longer with them.

You are right, it is not against the law to knock on doors, but most people who are not acquainted with the person living in a home, knock at the FRONT DOOR. They do not waunder around to the back door trying to see if someone is home. Exactly WHO did you think was going to be ANSWERING the door at the Smith house. Did you really think any family member was going to be there so soon after this tragedy?? Come on who are you kidding...that was just a way for your sordid reporting to try to get a peak in to the house. If they wanted to give you an interview and tell you what happened, they would have called you. If you did not sensationalize this report why the "BLOOD EVERYWHERE" headline.

I know these people personally and have for many, many years. We are all heartbroken over this tragedy. It is really sad to know that the only newspaper in the area has turned to sensationalism to sell papers. As far as the TV stations, half of what was reported was not even true. Some of the comments by neighbors that did not want to be identified (why did they not want to be identified), were also not true. When you interview people by knocking door to door, you don't have any way of verifying that information, but you print it anyway. I found out about their deaths by one of those nosey neighbors that went to the house trying to find out what happened right after she saw several police cars without sirens on go up the street. When she did not get any information from a policeman, she went to a relatives house who also did not know anything about what had happened. She then proceeded to call other neighbors to tell them all the details. This type of person feeds on other peoples misery. She should be ashamed of herself. These are the types of people you get when you knock door to door. Which is why it is not a good way to gain information.

By the way, the name of the street is STYME Road. If you had read the street sign as well as you read the sign in the back window of the house, you would have realized that you were spelling it wrong. Maybe you should have taken a picture of that too so you could have gotten it right.
