First of all, this building up of the Draft in any sport: having draft bar parties, draft radio programs, draft TV shows, etc., is all just a bunch of hype which blows everything way out of proportion.
This kind of nonsense never took place when I was a kid. We didn’t even pay attention to the Draft. It took place, you got who you got, and that was it. Sometimes things worked out and sometimes they didn’t. No big deal.
So the Cavaliers got their guy with the first pick. Now please, let’s not start building up this young man like he’s the savior of the team and it’s only a matter of time before Cleveland wins its first NBA title. We went through all of that with “The Traitor,” remember?
Sure, it’s nice that the Cavaliers now have what appears to be a player who’ll help the club in the future, but that doesn’t guarantee anything. So just cool it with the hype!

I think most everyone would agree that, as of right now, the chances of the Minnesota Twins catching Cleveland in the standings are pretty good. Of course, this wasn’t the case a month ago. Back then, our Injuns had a double digit game lead on the Twinkies and most folks, myself included, had given Minny up for dead. As far as people in the know were concerned, it was “wait till next year” for the gang in Viking Land. Not so now.
If my life depended on it, I’d have to bet that, when it’s all said and done, the Twins catch, pass, and end up finishing higher than the Tribe. Minnesota won the division last year, and basically have the same team. So it looks to me like their horrendous start was a fluke, and now they appear to be right on target for another playoff appearance. If push came to shove, that’s what I’d say is going to happen.
The sooner this bust out team from Pittsburgh gets out of town the better. Sure, the Tribe is feasting on a club that’s now lost 12 consecutive interleague games, and that’s a good thing for us. But, come on already! Do we really have to watch this minor league team from the PA. play another game? Just mark up Sunday’s game as another win for the Injuns and let these Buckos hit the freeway early and head back to Steeler/Penguin Town.
This is just what the doctor ordered as far as Cleveland is concerned. I mean, who could have asked for anything more? These Pi-Rats are loathsome creatures on the field. You’d have to pay me to watch them TRY to play major league ball. What a bunch of bust outs!
Cavs start new era with Irving

Giambi homers as Rockies beat Indians
"BRINDA’S GOING BONKERS"
7 RUNS ON 9 HITS,
FAUSTO HAS TO GO.
HE’S A REAL DISASTER,
AS IF YOU DIDN’T KNOW.
ROCKED BY ROCKIES MONDAY NIGHT,
15,000 ON HAND.
ENDED THREE GAME WINNING STREAK,
DON’T STRIKE UP THE BAND.
BRINDA’S GOING BONKERS,
ON RADIO AS I TYPE.
WANTS CARMONA BENCHED,
THAT’S HIS MAJOR GRIPE.
BUT, WE STILL HOLD FIRST PLACE,
IN SPITE OF GETTING BEAT.
MAYBE TUESDAY BRINGS A WIN,
IT WOULD BE A NICE TREAT.
GOD BLESS

AFTER TWO HOUR RAIN DELAY.
COMPLETE SWEEP OF PI-RATS,
WHO CAN’T HIT WITH BATS.
TODAY YOU’RE A HERO,
NO LONGER BATTING ZERO.
GOD BLESS

Indians back in first place
"WIN WOULD BE A BOOST"
DOWN 3 ZIP AFTER ONE,
I THOUGHT: “HERE’S ANOTHER LOSS.”
BUT FAUSTO SETTLED DOWN,
SHOWED THEM WHO WAS BOSS.
INJUNS BANGED OUT 13 HITS,
RALLIED FOR A WIN.
KNOCKED OFF TIGERS,
BACK IN 1ST THEY’RE IN.
RUBBER GAME IN MOTOWN,
WIN WOULD BE A BOOST.
THAT SPELLS “MOMENTUM,”
AS THEY COME HOME TO ROOST.
GOD BLESS
