McDonald schools ask voters to renew levy

@ tjohns...

You used the word meager? To describe $27,000? There is nothing wrong with sharing a service with Mineral Ridge to bus kids to TCTC if it is a COMMON SENSE COST SAVER and the kids get to TCTC either way.

We approved levies, but again they reduced the 10.75 mill levy and likely will for the following years. McDonald is too small to be paying for one whole bus and driver in the morning to ship such a small number of kids off.

As for why the district needs the renewal when they passed the 10.75, again the district has been reducing the amount that they collect on it every year to keep the promise to the district that they would keep things status quo.

I do believe it is Academics, Arts and Athletics in that order, because if it wasn't you would see a brand new stadium right now instead of plans to expand the academics at the schools.

McDonald school board approves appropriations

Good luck with your levy McDonald BOE, I know for sure that until half of these board members responsible for this disaster resign I won't vote for it.

Look at it this way McDonald, if we pass this levy, we are giving the same people we trusted with our money before more money. Yeah, give them more money to frivolously spend. They made a great pick of Mr. Vechionne, with his nice salary, who hasn't come to any board meetings as of yet, and still has not met the board. But as was said at the board meeting when he was hired without a face to face meeting: "He comes from a nice family and he is an outstanding man", that's your ticket to running McDonald, being one of the popular families, even if you run the school into the ground.

Do you really want to give the same board members more responsibility in how to decide how to spend the surplus that will become of this levy? Hell no. Fail the levy, elect new members, then pass one.

McDonald, its time to bring some accountability back to the Board of Education.

Board OKs teachers contract

No negative comments? Thats because there is nothing more to say about those fools. They killed our school district, they claim they have apologized, and they continue to make frivolous decisions. Seven people singe handedly killed the McDonald School District, as you will see when this levy fails and we consolidate. Actually, consolidation isn't such a bad idea. The kids at the highschool get nothing more. They even cut most of their electives. I was at the board meeting when a young man voiced his concern that they cut spanish 4. You know what they told the kid? He was yelled at by the principal, and the board just looked at him and thanked him for sharing his opinion. Kind of sad to see these people in charge of the kids. Its okay, elections are coming!

McDonald schools athletic programs receive $5,000 donation

Wow, what a circus. The incompetence of this board forces people to have to DONATE to keep things going. Why doesn't the board donate the money that they make, considering the majority of them were the ones that were instrumental in causing this FISCAL APOCALYPSE McDonald finds itself in. Vote for the levy? Heck NO! The levy is only to save the reputations of the board. See you in the election fall of 2011!

Board OKs teachers contract

The way the board acted at the past meeting is disgusting and out of line. The superintendent claims he is "never wrong". Several times the board told their constituents to sit down and that they have had enough. These fools got the community in the financial mess, now they don't want to listen to people with a different opinion. Can't wait to say goodbye to three of them in fall of 2011 when they won't get re-elected!
