I was born and raised in Youngstown as well, and I totally disagree with the writer concerning the children never receiving home training. Parents truly do their best to raise there children, and I knew the Baker family personally. Their mother was a single parent of 10 children (bless her soul). She taught all of her children well and placed true moral and values into her children. Children make their own decisions as they become adults regardless of what may have taken place in the household. The writers indicated a few children from the Baker family, but there are several children not listed. From talking with the family Shiek is a 4 year college graduate/moved from the area and was never involved in drugs in any fashion. There are four daughters not mentioned in the write up that moved from the area (three of them are prominent citzens with Master Degrees or above and were never involved in drugs. One of the daughters moved from the area and is currently attending school and raising her children. Obviously the writer do not know this family as indicated in the posting. The family may have had some challenges in the 1970s or 1980's (not sure) but you cannot paint a picture of a family based on things that happened in the streets over 35 years ago. If Appolonia is dealing with a current situation that she possibly put herself in that is based on her choices and her decisions. When individuals write about certain families, please be clear that you know all of the facts before putting a family down in this manner. The Baker Children are wonderful children and 95% of them have turned out to be prominent and productive citizens based on the teaching of their mother Mrs. Eyvonne Perry (her name was not Ms. Baker again writer with unknown facts). God Bless the City of Youngstown
