I do not understand the need for a union that represents "professionals". If you are as good as you think, you will be recruited by other schools and the university would be offering you more to stay.......that is true nationwide. Why are the "professors" complaining about the University president's salary (even when she donated approx. $125,000.00 since accepting the position) when her job is totally different from theirs? Who do they want to pay for their % of the insurance premiums...students?...janitors?...other taxpayers?...parents?...grandparents?...hunters?...you get my drift. And who knows what premiums will be in the future? My auto insurance can go up and I still have to pay for it (as well as uninsured motorist fees in case some idiot drives without insurance)...life is hard/you've had it easy/get over yourself.
No one in DC cares about Y-town. Ryan has no experience and I cannot understand why HE would be appointed, except that the D Party is afraid he will lose in Nov. They (the D party) have been going along with the insane Obama ideology and think he and HIS group ("global" everything)....will keep them in power when "O" IS DONE WITH THEM.
I wonder what experience he brings to a committee that is so important to our military men and women? At least Murtha was a veteran and knew SOMETHING about the problems they face in combat and performing their mission. Sounds like a purely political appointment. What a shame.
Actually, if tort reform is included, it should include penalties to those who bring frivolous lawsuits. I'm not sure if that has happened in Ohio yet? Does anyone know??
I thought that the dog warden was going house to house this year to make sure that all dogs were licensed (article in the Vindicator during May/June time frame). Why wasn't this covered in the article? I can't get over that there are more dogs listed for sale in the classified ads of the Vindicator that there are jobs! Usually reputable breeders don't advertise in the newspaper. The people in this neighborhood should demand (via their city councilman or the county commissioners) that the dog warden does a canvas of their area!
No comments? I find that hard to believe when there are comments on why not to buy a car if it is designed in a different country (never mind that it is built here). Or comments on whether or not Mr. Traficant should run for office (can a convicted felon run for office??). If this area does not stand up and require that the local governments (including elected judges) keep us safe, how can we expect that any large business or corporation will want to relocate their employees (and/or expand there presence) here?
Most people buy a particular brand of car for reasons other than what Mary listed?? As far as saving jobs in our county, we have car dealerships of all makes here. What is the issue? Also, I doubt if our local lawmakers knew that "Cash for Clunkers" was even in the stimulis bill considering the fact that there was no time given to read the bill before voting on it.
The President brought up fraud and waste in Medicare and Medicaid. Why aren't these issues being corrected now? We don't need a new bill passed to do that. Also, any money saved shouldn't be immediately spent. I am also very interested what will be put in place to PREVENT fraud and waste in any new program!
Whether or not you like this program, I wonder if we are missing the bigger picture here. Did ANY of our representatives know that this was in the Stimulus when they voted for it? I don't remember any mention of it as one reason to vote FOR the bill.
