My humble suggestions for the upcoming head coaching vacancy at YSU. Many here have Youngstown connections:

Dan Shula (Western Illinois)
Mark Stoops (Arizona)
Tim Beck (Nebraska)
Carl Pelini (Nebraska)

The Penguins will rise again.

YoungstownShrimp speaks the truth.

Drug abuse, gang violence, abused children, citizens motivated only enough to sign up for others people's earnings...these are the expected consequences of providing rewards for a slothful life. Real compassionate, eh?

How's that social engineering thing working out?

Words of wisdom (please note none of them advise socialist principles):

If a man is called a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and Earth will pause to say, Here lived a great streetsweeper who did his job well. ~Martin Luther King, Jr.

If you feel you are down on your luck, check the level of your effort. ~Robert Brault, www.robertbrault.com

Plough deep while sluggards sleep. ~Benjamin Franklin

Man stands for long time with mouth open before roast duck flies in. ~Chinese Saying

Labor disgraces no man; unfortunately, you occasionally find men who disgrace labor. ~Ulysses S. Grant

Success is a ladder you cannot climb with your hands in your pockets. ~American Proverb

God gave us two ends - one to sit on and one to think with. Success depends on which one you use. Head you win, tail you lose. ~Author Unknown

Mr. Maskell is right on.

Socialism is never about compassion. It is a scheme used by the rulers (or wanna be rulers) to secure and increase their power.

Somehow, after the lessons of rise of socialism in Europe resulting in mass genocide, many here in the USA (and posting on the Vindy) advocate strongly on behalf of socialism. These are what Lenin called, "useful idiots."

"How do you tell a Communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an Anti-communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin."
-- Ronald Reagan

ProAmerican,

If the DSPs did the opposite of what they're doing, we may make some progress. Their actions are so openly counter-productive, that I wonder if they're wildly stupid, or if they mean to take down the republic so that they can rebuild it to suit their liking. What do you think?

Some other ideas for Mr.Obama:

Replace the penalty for productivity/working with a consumption tax (FairTax). It's productivity, not spending, that drives an economy (ie, the GDP).

Stop perpetuating the housing crisis by stopping 'social justice' lending policies.

I'm really curious about what supporters of this bill think are going to happen if this bill becomes law. I would appreciate their responses.

Do you think that the Federal government can afford to provide unrationed care to everybody without denials of treatment?

Do you think it will stay on or underbudget? If so, based on what?

Will the elderly face rationing after $426 billion in Medicare and Medicaid cuts?

How will small businesses handle the imposed huge surtax and up to 8% in new payroll taxes? How will that affect wages and the unemployment rate?

This bill includes a $2 billion tax on those who already have health insurance, $20 billion in taxes on medical devices, $8 billion in taxes on anyone who buys over-the-counter drugs with money from their health-savings accounts, and $140 billion in higher taxes on drugs. Also, this bill will drive up premiums. A family of four with an income of $78,000 would pay $13,800 for insurance a year by 2016, according to CBO. Their tab would average $11,000 without the bill. Why is this a good thing in your view?

Are you ok with citizens serving prison time for not purchasing what the government told them to?

Where in the US Constitution does the legislative branch have the authority to assume the control of health care decision-making of its citizens?

The choice is not nothing or socialism. The DSP-controlled Congress is impeding true reform.

I have some ideas:

1. Cutting personal income taxes (instead of massively raising them) may increase consumer spending and encourage small businesses to hire and invest.

2. Cutting capital gains taxes.

3. Cutting payroll taxes.

4. Stop passing anti-jobs bills (Cap-and tax, Pelosi"care", Cash-for-clunkers).

5. Increase, rather than decrease by 10%, military spending.

6. Stop exploding the debt with failed porkulus bills that will increase greatly interest rates after we lose our AAA rating.

7. Stop devaluing the dollar by increasing the money supply. The inflation guaranteed to follow will diminish the purchasing power of consumers.

The Penguins once dominated 1AA football, defeated teams (Marshall, Boise State) now in the BCS as well as BCS teams in the MAC. The Penguins rise to 1A/BCS seemed a matter of time. The stadium was packed at times to national television audiences.

Now, in the Heacock era, no national championships, one playoff season in nine, a '08/'09 combined record of 8-13, attendence fit for a division 3 school, and a fan movement to boycott Saturday's game.

I agree with the 73% of fans who voted here for coaching replacement, and it should occur now. I'll take it a step further. Heacock's contract was renewed after a combined record in '03/'04 of 9-14. This decision doomed the Penguins for the remainder of this decade and likely beyond as it will take years to rebuild. The AD should be held accountable for this decision that was costly to the University and community. Revenue was lost to the University and businesses that cater to fans who attend the games. Perhaps restoration of the Penguins place as a dominant program will require a comprehensive renewal of the Athletic department.

If you look back at my prior posts, this was predicted by myself and others posting on this site.

This was the easily predictable result of another expensive anti-jobs government program.

Stuff like this makes me wonder if Mr. Obama and the DSPs are:

a) Stupid
b) Realize their destructive actions but don't care, or
c) Want to financially destroy America
