Mayor watches Girard's new water meter installation closely

Currently, the city’s residential water meters are inside homes and must be read by city employees. When a resident isn’t home, the water department relies on the homeowner to provide a reading that is either mailed in or called in.~~~This makes me laugh. It's been over 5 years since anyone has come & read our meter. We have to read them ourselves & call them in every 2 months. I for one will be glad when we get the meters.

Valley's MS walk Saturday at Scrappers Stadium

As someone affected with MS your choice of the word "victim" make it sound like we were injured, murdered, beaten, raped or harassed. I don't consider myself as a victim of MS. I consider myself as a fighter to help find a cure for MS.

A magical mile

Great story Todd. Thank you again to Nick Eason for giving Hunter this special day with him. Hunter is still talking about it almost a week later.

Hunter Crites and Nick Eason

Ben was there but he never saw Hunter. He didn't really practice anywhere close to where we were standing. After they were done with practice Nick too up so much of Hunter's attention that Ben was off the field before we knew it. It was by far a great day for Hunter. He got to atleast see Ben. The more popular players are in demand so much that it's hard for them to get to everyone. Thank you for your kind words about my nephew. I will never forget the joy on his face that day.

Hunter Crites and Nick Eason

I would like to speak on behalf of the family of Hunter Crites. I am his aunt & was one of the lucky ones who got to share in this day with him. I would like to clarify to PIAK as for his comment on Ben. Hunter personally asked to meet Troy. Troy came over shook Hunter's hand, signed his ball then gave him a Steelers official football took some pics then walked away. He spent maybe a total of 10~15 minutes with Hunter. As for Ben not coming, Ben didn't see Hunter along the sidelines. As for Coach Tomlin & Hines Ward, they were still on the field & thanks to Nick Eason, Hunter was able to meet them. He pushed Hunter to any player left on the field to meet. So please don't judge the other players who Hunter didn't get to meet. Wait for Todd's article to see how special of a person Nick Eason really is. The story is of Nick & Hunter, not Ben or Mike or Hines or Troy & Hunter. I have seen such great sportsmanship from someone like Nick. So a big heartfelt thank you to Nick Eason for taking the time to show a 8 year old the best day of his life so far. You do have a big heart. Nick made me & Hunter's mom feel like he knew us if we were old friends. Believe me, I heard about the great day Hunter had with Nick the whole 2 1/2 hour car ride home. Thank also to Todd for helping with this special day. Also to James Farrior for handing Hunter a glass of Gatorade during practice. Also to the countless Steelers fans who asked an 8 year old child to sign your Steelers stuff. You all rock in my book & I can honestly say Steelers fans are the greatest.
