I am with peggy6. I have always voted for these things, but if this fiasco goes through, they can forget my votes in the future. What a scam they pulled on us.

Faith - I forgot to mention that Charlie Wilson himself admitted to me that 2/3 of America was against the health care bill.

Faith - You need to get your facts strightened out. And before you make claims as to a person's political views, maybe you should find them out. You certainly don't know mine. Facts are facts, and America was, and remains, against the health care "reform". That is the single largest contributor to the overwhelming display that America gave us on Tuesday. Your statistics are completely wrong.
And for your information, I am Youngstown born, Youngstown educated, Youngstown State alum, and Youngstown employed. And I have also travelled the world. My parents came to this country over 50 years ago with nothing. They did some pretty simple things. They learned English, got jobs, raised a God fearing and moral family, and taught us the value of education and hard work. They don't believe in entitlements for non-handicapped people. And neither do I.
There are many local people who don't share your myopic views. Maybe if you had different views, you wouldn't be the sad victim of society that you obviously believe you are. This is the land of opportunity. But you need to be motivated to succeed. Don't just stand in line and wait for handouts. That makes for a pitiful society. It is also why so much of the world is passing us by.
And one last thing, you really need to work on your grammar and spelling.

Faith - Just because the health care bill was passed by being shoved down the throats of a population that was clearly against it (about 2 to 1), doesn't mean that it is good legislation. Why not get rid of it and fix the problems in the old system rather than build a monster that will be fiscally overwhelming and an administrative nightmare? Please quit the childish parroting of the Democratic "leadership" and think rationally as if you were running your own house responsibly. Ryan is just a simpleminded guy who got assigned to Congress when Traficant went to prison and now gets to ride the "D" ticket to a lifelong career here in the Valley. Your entitlement views are exactly why our area stays behind the rest of the country.

It is hilarious that Ryan keeps laying claim to having something to do with V&M and Lordstown. I give him credit for one thing: being a real politician. Taking credit for everything good that happens and responsibility for nothing bad. This guy doesn't get it. The whole country punished guys who are associated with Pelosi, cap and trade, and the health care bill. And he brags about being involved with all three. He is just lucky that he lives in the Valley, where the newspaper thinks like a union rep and the people vote like it.

It is going to be fun to see if anyone has the guts to step out of line and call for Betras' head.

OK Timmy. Let's see what you do now. You did nothing with your idol Nancy in power. Let's see what you can do now that she is about to get punished by the victors. Hear we go with 2 more years of our area getting abused in every decision out of Washington.

Thanks Vindy!!!!! Your wonderful endorsement of just about every Democrat has now alienated us from the rest of the state and country. You are so clueless as to the public's sentiment and needs in these tough times. Now we will pay for our incredibly stupid votes with years of little or no support from Washington and Columbus. And special mention for DeSouza and Skolnick for their help in getting us here. It is going to be interesting to see how their golden boy Timmy does now. He did nothing while Pelousy was in power. Now the payback to her (and ultimately Timmy) will be painful.
November 3, 2010 at 7:25 a.m.
Bertram and the Vindicator are just plain sad. The best thing that they can say in their never ending Democrat endorsement: we need Strickland because he has come here 62 times! That is because we are the only area in Ohio that is dumb enough to vote for such a pathetic candidate who has done nothing for us but come here to get photo ops for things which he did nothing to do with. And our incredibly biased newspaper spits out baseless endorsements for anyone with a D after their name. Does anyone remember the Vindy's unconditional endorsement of Timmy Pelousy the weekend after Traficant got put back on the ballot? In it they stated that Timmy's fingerprints are on everything good going on the Valley. Lordstown's third shift and V&M's expansion are always the first thing mentioned. No informed person can take the Vindy seriously. Lordstown brings back their laid off third shift and V&M builds a plant based our proximity to the 2nd largest natural gas find in the world and Obama and friends roll into town to take credit for it. And the Vindy jumps on their baseless PR wagon.
And now one more display of our area's sheeplike mindset. Our most advertised local ambulance chaser brings in Bill Clinton to fire up the troops before the slaughter. And locals and our newspaper treat him as a hero. Why can't anyone remember that he was the one who stopped the federal payroll facility from coming to town right after his first election? That would have changed the whole economy in this area. It would have brought 4000 to 7000 real career jobs to the area. Not the $9/hour call center jobs that come here now. This guy ruined our future and gets treated like a hero.
So as not to sound to negative (ala Bert DeSouza) I am going to finish on a positive note. I want to congratulate Bert on making it through a whole politically based column without mentioning Traficant. It must have been hard.
