Second slaying in 2 days probed

Everyone here seems to be missing the real point here...what the blue blazes is this 34 year old WOMAN doing messing around with 20 and 22 year old BOYS? So now one is dead and the other will be in jail for probably the rest of his life and she's going to claim she's a "victim."

Yeah. Whatever.

I'm pretty sure she's not Demi Moore.

New data highlight retention problem

I find it ironic that "420" had low grade point averages. 420 will do that to a person...

HBA: Little interest in new homes

Actually, those homes to which you are referring are for low-income families (hence the "price cap"), so apparently your information regarding the "$100,000 a year" income specification is incorrect. I can almost guarantee beyond the shadow of a doubt, there aren't any folks in that neck of the woods that are making $100,000 a year legitimately. Banks rely on substantiated and verifiable income and we all know you're not allowed to put the "other" income on a 1040. So...please check your facts.

Youngstown CityScape begins fundraising for Streetscape program

"Shurbs?"

Really?

"Shurbs???"

No wonder they have to step up their fundraising. I hear "Shurbs" are expensive.

Honestly, don't you people have spellcheck????

Sheesh.

Police probe fight between teacher, 55, and student, 14

"The altercation ended when a teaching assistant came to the teacher’s assistance."

Well, I'm wondering if that is in their job description? I don't think you should be doing something that isn't in your job description. Maybe without collective bargaining, this could have been avoided....

Wick’ed ways

Well, this house was one of many that belongs to a certain individual (the Covington House on Broadway is another) and had a hefty IRS tax lien on the property. This particular structure was of interest to MANY individuals and there was a sincere RECENT attempt to address the liens. It's a long and arduous process.

Having said that, we residents around the park are horrendously saddened not only about the loss of this structure, but how the city has dealt with the entire thing and the subsequent razing of the carriage house in the back.

It is a well-known fact that the YFD doesn't really even attempt to put out the blazes on these structures anymore. The house on Bissel across from Petra Market burned down the same night this house did and once YFD found it was unoccupied, they just turned around and walked out and let it burn (the owner has been in a nursing home for quite some time).

I have been a resident of the Wick Park neighborhood for 3 years and have seen what the vacancies are doing to the area. On the 200 block of Broadway, there are 5 structures and 4 are in foreclosure. It's not pretty. One on Ohio Street (one house in from Broadway) caught fire last Friday--just the front porch--and now sits wide open and vacant. How long before this one is razed? Or burned to the ground?

If you're truly concerned, come to the meeting at the Unitarian Church tomorrow night. I plan to be there.
